At least it's new and shiny.

Still looks plain and boring not badass like the gen1. I'm sure it'll perform just great. V6 and looks just not for me. Hope the engine will last like we all know the gen1 has.

Id bet anyone on this forum $100 that if someone swapped their Gen 1 shocks to the same config the Gen 2 shocks are in and they didnt tell you you wouldnt be able to notice a bit of difference.

+1....except maybe a little less axle wrap lol

I'm willing to bet that anyone that does anything more than a factory location shock upgrade will ditch the staggered setup, especially considering the kits are already developed. We don't have to talk high dollar purpose built rigs here, we can talk about neat every prerunner ever built, budget build of otherwise.

I'm sure many will, because non-staggered looks more aesthetically pleasing, and for pure-offroad use it may be better. But again as the truck is designed for all around, staggered isn't going to hurt the truck for the extent that a factory truck is designed around offroading, and is only going to help the trucks for on-road use, which face it, numbers wise, more raptors see street miles than dirt miles as a whole. Ford isn't designing it only for the guys who are going balls to the wall aftermarket Baja on it, because when those guys are modding they can change what they see suits it best, but rather Ford is designing it around both and addressing an issue for a street use application what the majority of owners use it for, which is primarily on road use with occasional offroading, and less axle wrap is a good thing, especially with more power. Yes that's not the majority of guys on FRF, but that is the majority of Raptor owners out there. STOCK form, staggered isn't going to hurt it's offroading capability, and is only going to help it's on-road capability.

And thats fine but saying the staggered setup is going to be absolute trash and "make the truck steer funny" is a pretty long stretch.

I bet in stock trim the truck is going to perform great and guess what? Probably 98% of Raptors will stay in stock trim forever.

Ford is catering to the masses, not a niche group of hardcore offroaders who want an unrealistic 120mph baja capable rig from the factory.

For serious offroading is a staggered setup ideal? No. But in stock trim for an on and offroad truck will a staggered stock setup work? Yes, probably just fine.

A lot of people dont even know what axle wrap and wheel hop is so most people wont notice a difference either way even if there is an actual measurable difference.

+1000000.

Also being that none of us have even driven a gen 2 yet, IMO the axle wrap on the street is bad enough in my gen 1 with no performance mods. The gen 2 having more power and less weight is only going to be even more prone to axle wrap, so it's a good thing they're addressing it before hand before we start seeing all these threads 6 months from now "got a gen 2 and when I stomp it from a stop I get a real bad shaking/bouncing feel what do you think it is?"

Who of us keep things stock? You can gain travel on a non staggered setup, I don't see how you can on a staggered setup without cutting and welding to make it non staggered.

I'd say about 95% of Raptors if not more, keep the suspension bone stock aside from a perch mod. FRF may seem like a giant place with thousands of highly modded raptors, but really it's small peanuts compared to the grand scheme of how many Raptors are out there.

A higher number will mod their raptor with wheels, tires, vinyl, and some lights, but far far less are changing out suspensions and everything else for more travel, etc. Even if there's a couple thousand raptors out there with highly modded suspensions, that's still a drop in the bucket compared to the what ~75,000 Gen 1 Raptors rolling around out there?

Generous estimate, 5,000 raptors with long travel highly modified suspension.....still leaves 70,000 raptors with stock style or bone stock suspension......Ford is designing and catering around that 95%, not that 5%

So there you have it, gen 2 is the street queen generation designed for the masses that won't actually use it as an off-road vehicle. Thanks lol.

I think the Gen2 I will purchase will be perfect as a DD to work (all pavement) and to tow my Gen1 Raptor that I will build up in a couple of years out to the desert for Raptor runs.

if that's your spin on it, then yup following exactly in the footsteps of the gen 1....oh wait, the gen 2 has more travel, bigger shocks, less weight, and more power, making it more offroad capable, while having staggered shocks that won't hurt it's offroad ability yet provide even better on-road response. Win win

but should be ready to go from stock for those that want to head offroad to have fun, from the start.

ummm

right? :driver:

Yeah staggered shocks are just going to totally eliminate the ability to offroad lol.

Gotta love people who can't wrap their head around something that doesn't look like they expect, don't understand it, so clearly it can't work :specialed:
