Alcon issues

Anyone here install front and Rear Alcons on their Gen 2?
This process has been a nightmare, finally have them in and they squeek like no ones business. Ear screeching as I drive, even without brakes initiated.
Shop says its normal, Alcon says its not. And im into these for almost $7k, hopefully someone here has a remedy

Have you done brakes your self before? I’d lift it and pull the wheels off to inspect the work. Normally clips, lube, and brake squeal stop will keep this from happening. The Lube on mating surfaces And clips prevents the squeal but if it is too much, and you don’t mind a mess, you can use the squeal stop which is essentially a low grade gasket maker which isolates the vibrations. This stuff goes on the back of the pads. You should make sure you follow the recommended bedding procedure too. If they aren’t bedded properly or bled properly there may be slop which causes binding and uneven wear as well as squealing

Mine were really bad screeching for a while only when braking , driving they are silent , GEN 1 , i did re-bed a month ago 10 hard hard stops in a row without stopping and then letting them cool . They are considerably quieter now. If you always brake like a limo driver with a light touch they will start squealing , i brake a bit harder and later now and noise is reduced even under light braking. Performance brakes will squeal do to pad material and harmonics. Link below explains noise from Porsche engineers.

Next time you are on an isolated road, with no one behind you, go through a few cycles of speeding up and then hitting the brakes harder than you normally would. Obviously you don’t want to brake hard enough to cause a skid, you just want to push it a little more than you would in normal day-to-day driving. The harder application of force can help normalize pad pressure distribution and reduce the squealing.

I'm glad I read this thread, I was considering upgrading to the Alcons, this will definitely deter me from using this product.

I will keep you posted but honestly, not pleased with the product or support. Alcon has distributors reply to customers questions, yet they cant do anything else. Alcon corp has been MIA to any attempts to reach out. im hoping its a shop install issue, but if its not resolved, im throwing stocks back on and eating the 6k. The sound (on mine) is that bad. Its screeching as i drive, sounds like a 1970’s junker

What kind of shop installed them? If the components aren't torqued to specification, a resonance/vibration can occur which will be heard as a high pitched squeal. It's also critical that the brake rotors were completely cleaned of any anti-corrosion shipping oil and the hardware was installed correctly with the proper tension on all spring clips. Even a single greasy fingerprint smudge on a brake pad friction surface can result in a brake noise.

If everything is properly torqued and correctly installed and the noise is still occurring, you can try what @JAndreF321 mentioned and apply stop squeal/disc brake quiet between the brake pad backing plates and the caliper pistons. It adheres the pads to the piston calipers and dampens vibrations to prevent the pads from vibrating within the caliper during application.

It was a shop here in nor cal who supposedly specializes in Raptor components.

Check for rust on axle hubs where rotors fit over lugs. All mating surfaces should be absolutely clean. Mine only squeeled under light braking since I did a rebed they are much quieter . It was a shitshow on my 2010 I had to buy 2012 parking brake assemblies , pull rear axles . The banjo bolts are standard thread on 2010s alcons are metric alcon was no help with sizes. Overall it was worth it . stopping power is quantum leap over gen 1 oem. I can engage abs on dry pavement with 37 toyo mt. No way would that happen with oem brakes on gen 1 . The fade resistance is considerably better than oem as well.

I truly hope you get this resolved. I know these are expensive and if the manufacturer doesn’t stand behind their product, I’m sure there are many in thus forum that will not purchase their products, including myself.
