I saw that f150leds still doesn't have a Head-Up Display for the gen 3 raptor. Anyone asked when they'll make one? Anyone know of other aftermarket places making a HUD for gen 3 raptor?

It really bums me out that most mom-mobiles come with it now and the raptor doesn't.... It'll be offered on the new super duties, but not in the raptor??? I wish there were a really nice aftermarket option that worked without the use of film on the windshield.

READ EVERYTHING. Some projection HUDs are not compatible with pickup trucks because of windshield angle. Some plug into the OBDII port, the GPS models plug into the cigarette lighter, and the OBDII/GPS models plug into both. I have spent hours looking at reviews, product descriptions, ratings, etc. I'm not going to buy one that's made in China (and nearly all of them are products of China) because of the many, many poor ratings and outright horror stories some people have had. Latency problems, accuracy problems, almost universal quality problems, etc. One model caught fire. One OBDII model screwed up the vehicle's fuel/air map. Customer reviews of nearly every model include complaints about the quality of the instructions.

So far I can find only one aftermarket HUD that isn't out of China - the HUDWAY Drive. It's made in Latvia. It's a full-function unit that projects the information onto a screen that's part of the unit. Per the FAQs, it will not work without a smart phone with the HUDWAY ap loaded. $275 shipped from Alabama. https://hudway.co/products/drive They also have a product called HUDWAY Glass that is simply a mount and reflector that enables you to see your smart phone on the Glass's screen. I don't think you get UBDII data with the HUDWAY Glass. Unfortunately, neither interests me. I only want OBDII data on the HUD and I don't want to have to screw with my smart phone before driving.

Additional: The projection models do not project the HUD directly onto the windshield. Modern windshields have built-in polarizing, and that creates a dual image. You must apply a semi-transparent film to the area of the windshield where the unit will project the HUD, and of course you have to redo that if/when you get a new windshield. The projection models also are susceptible to vibration, as the unit may jiggle in its place on the dash - a real issue for off-road vehicles.

The HUDs available from F150LEDs display digital MPH and a bar scale representation of RPM. One other digital parameter can be displayed - your choice of engine temp, battery voltage (more about that in a minute), time of day, fuel burn rate, or lap time. Only one of those five choices can be displayed at a time along with MPH and RPM.

Since the unit obtains its data from the OBDII port, the "battery voltage" data depends upon whether the truck is running, not running, or starting. True battery voltage will be displayed with the truck's engine not running and with the ignition key at the ACCESSORY setting. Turn the key to START, and for a moment while the starter is drawing power from the battery you will get an approximation of how much power the starter is drawing. (Example: Let's say your battery voltage is 12.5 volts. Turn the key to START, and you may see 11.5 volts. Whatever the normal difference is, in this example 1.0 volt, it's good to know. Because if that figure starts creeping upward it means that your starter is drawing an increasing amount of power from your battery. That invariably means that you have a failing starter.) Once the truck engine is running the OBD port provides alternator voltage, not battery voltage. This also is good to know, because if that figure starts creeping downward it may mean that your alternator or voltage rectifier has a problem. Any volt meter tells you these three things, of course.

So, only three data points can be displayed by this unit at a time. This is a minimally informative display, but it may suit your needs. Read the customer reviews. They're informative. The comments lead me to believe that these units are made overseas.

I seriously love my truck. The one thing missing is the HUD. my wife's acura has a great HUD with view of ACC, LaneAssist, Speed, Who's calling, ability to access other apps. I wish there was a HUD that would at least display Speed, ACC info, music info, who's calling. basic info, all available somewhere in my displays. Also, want that damn unit to lay flat and play off the windshield. none of this bulky crap. Ah, but I wish too much. Ford has invested way too many dollars into its EV division now so they have stopped innovating as quickly with gas vehicles. That's why the superduty gets the HUD and the rest don't, that's the gas truck that can't yet be replaced by the Lightning.

In the mean time, f150 LED has so little info and its a bulky unit (imo) that it's not worth the money to me. They could do better. In the mean time, any other suggestions for a good HUD. I read the info from @Ruger and I appreciate that homework.

Wrongo, about where the Hudway Drive is made. It is made in China. That was one of the many reasons the Drive, that I bought, took more than 2 years to be designed and delivered. It was mostly the Covid restrictions and also (twice!) there is a period of the year where mostly all of China shuts down for nearly a month for some country-wide holidays and vacations.

As for the questionable build, that can be, and was regrettable. I spent months ironing out the bugs and power interruptions. It took 2 months for their support people to figure out why MY unit could not update the firmware. Then there was the issue where the posted speed limits NEVER got right, always reading about half of what the speed was suppose to show (that's the speed limit, not the actual speed in motion, which was fine). Then, yeah, you're right, the vibration of the display was annoying. Finally, the last issue made me remove the unit, that was where the unit powers up, but no data or dials, and other info, gets displayed; all I see is the projected "Hudway Drive" title, and nothing else. This unit died, and support is not responding after 2 months!!

The idea of the Drive is fantastic, I liked it when it worked, but I couldn't expect it to work all the time, and now it doesn't work at all. It sucks, a couple hundred dollars (and it costs even more now) lost.
