before you get them completely installed, loosen that top hat allen pinch screw (photo below) that allows the adjustment to the coil.. it might be facing into the spring bucket, in which case its a real pain, and might even need to be dropped out of the bucket for access...
i have always used spring compressors, even with the nice wrench, you wont be able to turn the spring perch with spring loaded.
jack up the suspension under the lower ball joint, and tighten the spring compressors down a bit, when you lower the jack the spring tension will be released and youll be able to adjust the preload.. i use an allen key that fits snug in the adjustment holes, because you'll need the 90 to get in some spots to get the perch turning.
once you set preload, make sure that allen pinch bolt is facing out and tighten it back down....
it can be kind of a pain, but once you figure your method out its not too bad.
