So…. Has anyone on this forum actually adjusted preload on the Fox Factory Race Series coil overs while they were installed on the truck? If so, could you explain to me the procedure and specifically if there is room for the spanner wrench in the top hat bucket and did you have to compress the spring to adjust them, thanks in advance if anyone has advice

In to see if the same process can be used on Kings.
The FFRS seem like a common mod. I’ve scoured the internet for a tutorial or at least a tiny nugget of information but it seems to be a closely guarded secret. I haven’t ordered a $100 spanner wrench yet. I know how it works, just unsure if it’s possible with the tight confines and those hoses .There is a caution in the direction to not attempt with out a spring compressor. I don’t think there is room between the spring and shock body for an Auto Zone type compressor and if you have to pull them out to adjust then I guess I won’t be bothering with it, it’s just not that much fun.

you're way off on the reservoir mounting...

before you get them completely installed, loosen that top hat allen pinch screw (photo below) that allows the adjustment to the coil.. it might be facing into the spring bucket, in which case its a real pain, and might even need to be dropped out of the bucket for access...

i have always used spring compressors, even with the nice wrench, you wont be able to turn the spring perch with spring loaded.

jack up the suspension under the lower ball joint, and tighten the spring compressors down a bit, when you lower the jack the spring tension will be released and youll be able to adjust the preload.. i use an allen key that fits snug in the adjustment holes, because you'll need the 90 to get in some spots to get the perch turning.

once you set preload, make sure that allen pinch bolt is facing out and tighten it back down....

it can be kind of a pain, but once you figure your method out its not too bad.

Thanks, I figured out the reservoir mounting the next day. My son( he’s 35) was doing that part, I knew something wasn’t right

Both of my Allen head pinch bolts are facing out. Do you know if the preload is a 1 to 1 ratio, that is if I run the adjusting ring down 1in I’ll have 1in of lift? My front fender well is currently at 42 in and the rear is at 43(35in tires), I intend to do Deaver +3 in rear. Which in theory will make the rear at 44in. So possibly I’d want the front at 43in. That’s where it was with my Eibachs, but of course pretty stiff in comparison to the FF set up. On the softest setting my Gen 2 ride is equivalent to our new 2023 Gen 3 ride now. Ride quality isn’t necessarily my biggest concern on my Gen 2, but it’s nice for now. I didn’t mind the Eibach ride really.
I don’t think another inch of ride height in the front will have to detrimental impact on the half shaft angles. At any rate, not doing anything in front until I get my springs and recovery rack completed in the back.

another user on here did 4 full turns to get level with his rear that had deaver +3's, I will go that route an measure mine. I'm roughly a little over 4"s short in the front with my icons on the back with no preload as it sits

You gotta do it in the field and drive it over bumps to see how you like it. Adjust ride repeat. Too much preload makes the truck kinda bouncy and nervous. The right amount follows the terrain and makes the truck hook up and feel planted asf.

I appreciate all the comments, possibly I’m over thinking it. I’ve had quite a few modded trucks and a few modded muscle cars, never anything I enjoyed tinkering with as much as my Raptor though. Gonna put some weather tight connectors on my upfitter wires this week end and have a couple of BD lights coming Tuesday. Still patiently awaiting my recovery rack. I’m gonna buy a beside mounted overlanding rack thingy from on of my salesmen, he sold his truck, gonna mount recovery boards on it to free up some bed space.It looks to be of good quality and he’s letting me have it for a good price.If I end up not liking it, it can go on the ever growing pile of spare parts I’m acquiring!

I see you have the same Camber/ Caster alignment bolts(?) as Nex. What can you tell me about them ie: benefits, where to get them, installation, etc?
