Add a Tailgate Step to my 2011?

Well. I feel stupid for not ordering the tailgate step. I really want it after having my Raptor for a while. Much more gracious entry into the cargo area. HAHA. I see where there are 4 bolts in the tailgate where it seems as if you could add one. Then i'm sure next would come the top "spoiler" part of the tailgate where the step would slide out into the downward position. Any help would be appreciated.

I am sure you can find used tailgate with step on eBay or Craglist. It might be cheaper than buy OEM add-on. You might even lucky to get the matching color with your truck.

Honestly, if you can find one to swap out you will be lucky. I have looked into getting one myself as I am in the same boat. I wish I had ordered it as well. Now, if you can find someone on a forum that has one in the same color and wants to swap, again you will be lucky. You cannot buy a kit that I have found and if you do please let me know where. What I found is that you will have to buy a new tailgate all together. $5,000 is a lot of cash to get a tailgate step that had we had the foresight, would have cost an additional, what, 300 or so? Funk me!

I've been hating on the tail gate steps, or as I called them "truck *****" since they came out. Then I got my Raptor and it had one and I am amazed at how often I use it and how much id miss it if I didn't have it. It's sadly one of my favorite features haha and I'm 27 years old.

My current truck has one (that I didn't want) and I used it a ton when I moved last year. When asked about it on order of for my Raptor (by same salesman) I said heck yea! He just started laughing because he remembered how much I was making fun of it on this truck. It's very convenient!

So the new tailgate with a step is 5k? Wow. Do you have black truck? If you lived close I'd trade you for the one on my truck before I trade it. haha

If your tailgate gets stolen then get insurance to get you a new tailgate.

Yeah I just ordered a lock for the tailgate that goes over the hinge. Its by McGard part number 76029. I went through summit racing. I'll see if I can find a picture

Tailgate doesn't have a lock?

It does if you keep it up and lock it with the key. This way you don't have to use your key and leave the factory lock unlocked. Plus extra protection from theft, only 25 dollars from summt racing. 25 dollars is worth the extra peace of mind. Especially what you know it costs to replace the tailgate, And I got the stripper pole and camera in mine. lol
