The irony … there were members who did not want a 21 late in the year and would rather have a 2022. And the 2022s looks to have less functionality.
I wonder if they'll be called covid builds when the features come back after the semiconductor shortage ends? Ouch.

I don’t know. Ford has done this crap before, back in 2017 they removed the RGB ambient lighting feature.
You know, if they dumped the push button start and went back to a key, even if it's only on the 800a, I'd be really tempted to buy a new one. As it is, I'm going to wait as long as I can. The more I drive my wife's car, the more I hate the keyless experience.

I dont mind the push button to start the car but to get a new one for that wow. old school for sure. my wife's Porsche at least on their keyless start has an actual key always in the normal ignition location looks like a key fob. the key fob you carry just activates it. I like actually like turning the ignition. not necessarily push button but keyless none the less. nice touch. turn the ignition instead of push. but accomplishes same thing. no key needed. btw Porsche still sticking with the ignition on the door side of the steering wheel. old school race heritage.

My biggest operating annoyance is the delay when locking or unlocking. I grab the handle and pull. Just a fraction of a second too soon. I end up having to do a double pull and every time it ****** me off. Locking, same thing. It seems like I have to hold my hand on the handle forever before it locks. Touch it just a bit too quickly and it doesn't lock. So I use the lock button on the inside of the door as I'm getting out.

But really the biggest issue is security. Having to keep my fobs in a metal box at home or when I'm in a restaurant. Even then, the signal can be intercepted and cloned by someone nearby just by you walking away from the truck. Unless you put the fob in a metal box before you park and use the button on the door to lock it as you get out. Then the vehicle will complain. It would be one thing if the hassle was balanced by a big improvement in the operating experience. Sadly, it isn't. A solution in search of a problem. At least it's expensive.

I agree with the locking unlocking issue with the door handle. it does get confused sometimes. I think you may be a little overboard on the metal box.
The only time they can intercept is when a button is pressed and communicating with your truck. There isn't a continuous signal going back and forth. That would be the only time they can be incepted. Plus someone would have to be actually following you and waiting for you to actually intercept it and after that they would have to be decrypted. I dont think you have as big of a concern as you think.

If what you're concerned about was as big of an issue as you think all of these auto companies would be going back to the old way. basically being forced to by insurance companies. I have not or anticipate that happening any time soon.

That’s true with the key/remote. But not with the keyless fob. At least as I understand it. Folks have had their trucks stolen from their driveways and from the parking lots of restaurants

still not as prevalent as you may think. just saying look up the total cases and look at the odd of it happening to you . guess. taking precautions are good but id imagine we have a better chance of getting hit by lightning than having your car stolen.
