So I turn the car on, the AC starts blowing, and then just shuts off. I turned the car off, on again, same. I had to get somewhere to I rolled down the windows and go on my way. It was hot today.

The AC then comes on for a few seconds, off again, then on again. Does this a couple of times and then now it's on again.

Any guesses what that's about?

I know on this and even my previous F-150, the AC wouldn't actually start until it was ready to start blowing cold air, even does that when running the heater too. Wonder if it not ready and keeps recycling.

It did it again. I was driving down the highway doing 70 minding my own business, and the AC blower just shut down. No indication of any malfunction on any screen or readout. The AC buttons on the screen were lit as if everything was fine. It lasted 30 seconds to 1 minute, then as suddenly as it stopped it restarted, as if nothing happened.

It did it again after I picked up the car from valet, I was stopped waiting and it shut down. Came back on after less than a minute.

I can't discern any pattern, and without being able to reproduce it I'm afraid a dealer visit will be pointless. Any ideas?

Any news about your truck, ZBoater? Let me know if you decide to go the dealership route and I'll do what I can to help as well.

Is it the compressor or the fan?

Those are separate components. The compressor should kick on and off.

The fan should blow constantly if on. Try it without the AC on and see if the fan kicks out.

Thank you Crystal. I really appreciate your offer! I took it to the dealer today. I wasn't expecting much since it is so intermittent, but they were kind enough to humor me and took it into the back to check for codes. No codes. Of course it worked perfectly while I was there. :)

I'm very satisfied with my Ford dealer (Elder Ford). Shaun Sharma takes good care of me. But I understand the challenge in fixing a problem that cannot be recreated. Even if they started swapping parts, there's no way to tell which one fixes it until I drive off and the symptom doesn't happen again. And it happens very infrequently and at random.

I think it's the blower. When it works the air is cold, but when it stops working, the fan just stops. Nothing comes out of any vent. It's like if I had turned the system off. I tried recreating it, like leaving the car out in the sun for a couple of hours, and who knew it worked great. I can't make it happen. It just does at seemingly random moments.

I can't be first guy this happens to (and if I am, then it need to go buy a lottery ticket!) so at this point all I can do is wait for it to start happening more frequently and consistently so it can be properly diagnosed and repaired. If anyone has any other ideas or suggestions, I am all ears!

It's getting hot in Tampa..... :ehcapt:

Might be the climate control thermal resistor. If running just strait ac without climate control then no clue other than maby moister getting to connections.
