Anything is better then cold. You just dont want it super hot because the oil filter is almost impossible to take off without getting some on your hand or wrist. Has nothing to do with the flow. has to do with burns.
Ohhh, I see...I thought you were saying that warm oil flowed better than hot oil. I definitely understand not wanting to change oil when it's hot!

I've only changed the oil once on the Raptor, and your note about the oil coming out the small hole hole (from the filter) would have been VERY handy at the time. Luckily I was able to slide the drain pan over there really quick in order to catch it. I still had some come out the big hole in the front (where my arm was removing the filter), I believe. Should I jack the front of the truck up a bit next time in order to make sure that little plastic pan that the oil falls onto in order to funnel it through the small hole is tipped more toward the back? Or I could probably just stick something under the front of that plastic piece before I pull the filter out...thoughts?

Ronin recommends that you raise the driver’s side of the truck. when I did that the truck oil refill amount was nearly max dry capacity...so seems like a good suggestion. Details in another thread. One other note for DIY oil changers is Ford service manual’s point of NOT lubricating the filter gasket, turning it to 44 lb-in torque, then +180°. And 20 ft-lbs on the drain bolt (probably the same for install of Fumoto valve.)

When I changed mine it came out of the little rectangle cutout in the shield but it appears that the plastic drain mold can allow it to drain down towards the front also. I guess it depends on which way the truck is sitting.

I used the 107N also with the plastic lock.

I've only changed my oil once so far, but will be adding the adjustable Fumoto(wish it was the Ronin) at the next oil change. I drained the pan first and then just barely loosened the filter. Nothing coming out of the filter at this point. Slide a gallon zip lock bag over the filter and up around the edges. Then unscrew the filter the rest of the way and most, if not all, of the oil should be in the bag. I also went to the larger ford performance filter so I am hoping it will be a litter easier to grip next time around.

One correction right off...as this is not a Fomoto Valve as it says in the title. It is made by Fumoto.

If you happen to have the plastic pan, Ronin Factory has the solution.

I have an early 2017 SCREW with a plastic oil pan. I sure wish Ford would retrofit my truck under warranty to an aluminum oil pan like this so I could use the Fumoto Valve.

The Ronin replacement plug for 2017 to early 2018 Plastic Oil Pan is a cool replacement for crap Yellow Quarter Turn bathtub plug on my truck. But at $80 each I'll wait...

Anyone in for a discounted group purchase if Ronin will do it?

I already bought one. I mean, what is the price of an oil change? Or the truck for that matter? What’s $80 for the freedom to not have a dealer wreck your vehicle? It cost me well over $80 in time and hassle for my last dealer visit.

One correction right off...as this is not a Fomoto Valve as it says in the title. It is made by Fumoto.

There are a couple that will work...again just for clarity, this is for GEN2 trucks with the metal oil pan. This is not for GEN2 trucks that have the plastic oil pan and the yellow plastic drain plug.

So the two most commonly used are the F107N and the F107SX. The N version is what is in this thread and has a 15mm nipple and comes with the black safety clip. The SX model is preferred by many as it allows you to rotate the spout to the exact location you'd like. It has a 5mm nipple. The safety clip for it is blue.

If you happen to have the plastic pan, Ronin Factory has the solution.
So F107N vs. !07SX Is the nipple length different or diameter of outflow different?
