A Ford tech's take on "THE CLUNK" (THE ONE and ONLY CLUNK THREAD)

For many of us it's a serious problem. I think the number of threads (on other forums) reflects the frustration many are feeling, and posting more and more threads is a desperate attempt to get Ford's attention. To be honest, I was initially surprised by the lack of "clunk" threads over here, considering the fact that it is such a serious issue.

i think 1 thread with thousands of views and hundreds of replies gains more attention than newbie's whining. but i am sympathetic of the issues you're experiencing.

Serious issue? Its a CLUNK! Nothing is about to break. It doesn't CLUNK as you drive along. It clunks as you stop or take off and it by no means a violent event. Its an IRRITATION. Thats it. Its not like an engine falling off a 777 in flight.

We have been informed that Ford is working on it. Thats good for now. If it keeps up and no solution is formulated, then we can and maybe should start a written campaign. But until then, I am driving my Clunker! AHhahaaaaa. What are ya gonna do???

I don't have it and what i asked before is can you feel or just hear it? If it is just a sound get some louder exhaust or just turn up the radio.

You can definitely feel it...feel it in my seat. It'll also jerk a little.

I'm not even sure I'd call it an irritation.

"What are ya gonna do?" Exactly! Just drive the thing. It rocks.

Just received my Raptor Screw back from the dealer and guess what?....just what I expected. Handed me the invoice and it reads..."Ran oasis, found special service message 702000. Engineering is aware of this concern and they are working on a fix....Do not attempt repair at this time." Yeah.

OK guys, don't want to get anyone's hopes up but read this. His dealer tightened the flange that connects the differential to the drive shaft and fixed the clunk. This was posted yesterday.
