Just wondering what I’m missing here. Is there a host of features that make the jump to 801 worth it, or should I just stick with 800, torsen, and convenience, and save a few thousand?

Its a really good question. I went back and forth multiple times on this. To sum it up:

2021
800a had 3 package options that can be added
Torsen (gives torsion and fogs). $695
Tow tech (gives brake controller, 360 camera and pro-trailering) $880
Convenience (gives fold flat console and nav) $795

2022
800a has 2 package options that can be added
Torsen (same as above) $695
Convenience (***Now includes Tow Tech package along with prior convenience package) $1670

801a is $6150 more than base 800a or $3780 more than 800a with all packaged options

for that $3780 you get the following:

BlueCruise (800a has adaptive cruise and lane assist but this adds hands free driving)
Forward sensors on the bumper
Rain-sensing wipers
Tailgate Applique "FORD"
Heated Steering Wheel
second-row heated seats
LED Projector with Dynamic bending headlamps (800a has LED projectors but not dynamic bending and they are 4 smaller ones instead of 1 large)
Power tilt/telescoping steering column with memory
B&O unleashed 18 speaker system
Universal Garage opener
Wireless charging pad
full leather with suede inserts instead of cloth inserts

you also get the ability to order other options like PRO Power which is now $995, moonroof/power tailgate and 37 performance package

I ended up ordering 801a with pro power

if ordering for 2022 was the same as 2021 then I would have ordered an 800a with Torsen and Tow tech and saved a few grand but with convenience now bundled with tow tech and pro power unbundled from power tailgate I jumped up to 801a

The only other thing I would have wanted in 801 is headlights...

Honestly I think most people got it for the Ford on the tailgate
I do like the look of the headlights better but worry about reliability with dynamic movement

that said I ordered by putting a price on each additional item

B&O $1000
BlueCruise $1000
front sensors: $500
heated steering wheel: $100
wireless charger: $100
headlights: $500
nicer leather seats: $500
the rest I don't really want/need although I do like the Ford on the tailgate

Looking at it this way, the only thing that’ll hurt to lose by not getting 801a is Blue Cruise, and personally that isn’t worth 3780 to me.

I’m in the 800a squad, my opinion you start adding packages on to an 800a, the deal gets bad might as well go 801. Even for resale, an 800 is an 800 no matter what you add to it
agree, entry level of each is best deal....800a with no options or maybe just torsen or 801 with no options is best for resale and best deal

Is there a different gauge cluster with the 800a's still? Thought the 801 was the better cluster?
