It is amazing how many people believe that their 'all-season' tires will get them thru the winter.
And many of those 'all-season' tires are half way down on tread.
The truth is:
all-season tires are rated for 3" of snow - when New.
---> snow tires are rated for 5" of snow - when New.
Many drivers' abilities are rated . . . Zero! . . previous pictures prove.

while winter tires may help, it has more to do with the driver. I have had zero incidents in winters using all terrains. not even a close call.

Yet some people manage to **** up even with winter tires. which tells me, its not all about tires. It comes right down to driver ability.

U should get a dash cam for the ol' W900. I'm thinking about getting a bunch of cameras on my next truck. The way people cut me off, it's no wonder why Detroit's the murder capital. Probably from road rage. Lol.

I have heard that you can get fined for pulling people out if your not licensed to do so.

The other things is some company's don't care they expect you to be at work no matter what. Doesn't matter what you do.

Then there is this.
97% OF AMERICANS SAY 'OH ****' BEFORE
GOING IN THE DITCH ON A SLIPPERY ROAD.

THE OTHER 3% ARE FROM Up state New York, Vermont, or New Hampshire
AND THEY SAY, 'HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS.'

I've been the recipient of a generous tow myself once. A few years ago my work truck was a 3/4 ton Ford extended cab 4x4. It had been about 6 days since the snow, but the particular stretch I needed down still had ~3' of snow all the way across it for a stretch of about 200 yards. I called my boss and told him the conditions and he told me to go for it anyway. I was stuck about 50 yards in, wheels touching nothing but snow, for perhaps 20 minutes when some guys from a cattle feedlot a mile away pulled up and told me to hold on. They got on the radio and within about 15 minutes they had a monstrous front end loader pulled up behind me and tied on. My whole truck would have fit in the bucket. I offered the driver $40, but he would only accept a handshake. Called my boss back and told them to come try it himself if he really needed down that road.

The last 3 people I've pulled out (within the last 10 days) have already had a rope/chain tied to their tow hook and lead out in front. I just pulled over and backed up. Stranded motorist hooked me up and I pulled them out. Then backed up slightly and they untied. Right back on the road; no muss, no fuss. I just waved and drove off on two of them as I didn't have the time to chit-chat. Unless it's going to be an easy one, I usually don't pull over though as I'm almost always in my company vehicle and they don't really want it used that way.

We just got 17" of snow today and I spent most the day bringing people to work this morning and taking them home this afternoon. I did not have any issues in the drifts at all. The only people I saw get stuck were cars, mini vans, 3/4 ton & 1 ton diesels. I pulled a few out just to see if i could. It was an awesome day of four wheeling and got paid on top of that!
