Normally I always change my oil before a road trip. But I just have not driven much this winter in the Raptor. Can't decide if there is any benefit to changing the oil before the road trip, or just using up whats left of this oil.

Some times I hate being a car nerd. Most people would never give this a second thought.

I just go by mileage. 3500-4k miles per change. I would think about at what milage you like to normally change yours at. I know that the oil % reading gives you the number based on more than just the milage driven. But with a 2,500 mile trip I would feel better just changing it now.

If your truck is a keeper the answer is easy! Change it before.

At 50% Im usually at 5K miles since the last oil change. I only get 1K miles per 10% of oil life. Id end up just changing it, but its not going to destroy anything not doing it either.

Consider winter tends to make more condensation in the crankcase. I would change to be on the safer side.

What better way to boil it off than a long road trip.

It's 2500 miles one way or round trip? If 2500 round trip I personally wouldn't worry about it.

I change my oil at 5K or one year if still under 5K miles, regardless.

If I’m that close, I usually change the oil before a road trip in any of our vehicles. Just peace of mind for me that there’s fresh oil and filter in the engine for that type of trip especially if you’re doing mountains or hot desert driving.

I’m in the same boat but it was too fu€king cold to do the oil change before our trip. I’m at 21% and have about 600 miles before I hit 5k OCI.

Blackstone said I could do 6200ish miles on Amsoil SS. I always go by mileage.

I was actually thinking of dropping a gallon out of the truck (I got a Fumoto) and just refilling without changing the filter. Do a full oil change when we get home. That’s my ocd.
