I don't how they would sell well, they produce less HP and they still would not be 50 state legal.

Of course they will sell, 49 state legal and still if you have them in CA you will pass any test except a visual test and do they even do that? No tune needed, no codes, original cat location, original HEGOs location, ok so you only get 15-20. Eh not a big deal for those that will not tune their trucks to get LTs to work and want some extra HP.

Oh I'm sure some will buy them.

I would think you need a Tune for shorty Headers as well.

Also yes the distance and heating up of the cat on passenger side mostly is a problem with LT Headers but it's more the flow of gases over the rear O2.

This O2 spacer that has been discussed on the forum is the best way to go as a first fix to help with throwing codes.

Once more guys play with this concept of O2 spacers and LT Headers and high flow cats we might see a Tune leak out somewhere.
Of course this will be illegal.

Naw no need for a tune. Have had shortys on every truck i have owned with no tuner. The PCM has enough room to learn and adapt for the shortys.

Ok, good to know.

So how far have you pushed the OEM Tune? CAI, cat-backs?
I made my 92 2.9L manual Bronco II into a 4.0L auto with 2mm bigger MAF, 2mm Bigger TB 2lb bigger injectors with shorty headers and no tuner ran 60k miles never had a code or trouble.

I did the same thing with my 2004 5.4L, 2mm bigger MAF, 2mm Bigger TB 2lb bigger injectors with shorty headers and no tuner ran 80k miles never had a code or trouble.

I would like to try something like with these new trucks but, its so hard now that I no longer work in calibration and have no access to the new tools. :(
Ya I miss the availability of the tools..

Oh I thought you did something with the NEW PCM Style that's in the Raptor!!!

It's a completely different animal then what you have played with. Those old ECMs are quite different then the PCMs of now a day.

The biggest reason they are so different is because the engine mapping that is needed for DBW.
