Cine Im a little confused, what exactly is "flash to pass" I thought he just meant flash his brights ?
EDIT : Ohhh I got it, meaning if the headlights are off and you flash, okay sorry. Yeah you dont want to do that with HID's it will shorten the life of the bulb. But then again the bulbs are rated for 2000hrs, compared to a halogen which is 350hrs. These systems due have a "hot strike" protection and a low start up current so its not as bad for the bulb as cheaper HID gear, but I still wouldnt recommend doing it all the time.
Just so there's no confusion about my system...
There is no high and low with HID's. The bulbs are on at full brightness all the time, there is no surge in power for brights, a cutoff shield moves out of the way when you activate brights. That's what a Bi-Xenon projector is and why it uses the H1 bulb instead of a bi-xenon H13.
A Bi-Xenon bulb, like the H13 the stock uses, also has no high and low power. It's on full power all the time, be it HID or Halogen. there's a solenoid mounted to the bulb that actually moves the position of it relative to the reflector causing light to reflect upward and give you brights.
Ive also been asked about aiming the retrofit's. You aim them the exact same way you do the stock system. If you look down at the top of the headlight there's a little slot you can insert a flathead screwdriver in and turn the gears, clockwise to lower, counter to raise. You can also adjust it from the back with a socket, which it easier to turn it but you have to remove the headlight. Ill take a pic of the "slot" i referred to.
