Thanks, after reading this I may have more questions than I thought. For the redesign, is the 8-pin update going to improve anything other than moisture resistance? Is the stock wiring capable of 50w? I'm assuming it is, but I question why OEM is 35w. Your description of the EvoX spread sounds more than suitable for what I'm looking for, so all good there. Really looking forward to seeing the updates to the website and addition of EvoX. You probably have a web guy but let me know if you need any addl help with that stuff.

A little off topic, but not too far. I was thinking it would be great if Raptor Retrofit website had the ability to design your lights piece by piece, color by color, on a Raptor that was the color of your truck. It would be a cool way to design your lights and see what works or doesn't work. Although Dawson is so creative and adding options all the time, it might be difficult for the website to keep up with him!

In the same vein, it would be cool to have that ability for other accessories as well. Like wheels, tires, aux lighting, etc.

I already ordered my lights and I'm very excited!

I agree, the website UX could use some work, but it's really a business decision for Raptor Retrofit. Will improved usability provide any ROI? If I were to guess I would say yes, only because when I visited the website the first time I had to do some dedicated legwork on my own to hunt down pictures of all the different options, shroud styles, color temps, ballasts, and updates that aren't published yet. The wall of text on the Packages page can be daunting to a newbie. Some properly labeled imagery could go a long way for that website, and it wouldn't require flash or heavy coding either.

That said, IDK what RR's traffic, product output, or business plan is like. What he has now might be 'good enough' for where he is positioned in the market. People know it's a good product, and are obviously willing to deal with any shortcomings of the website.

All things considered, you could always take your request to the Photoshop section on FRF and try your luck with one of us designer types.

I agree, Dawson could survive on word of mouth alone! This forum is also very helpful for design ideas and past installs. Plus Dawson will answer any question you can think of regarding his product.

I would have really enjoyed mixing and matching a bunch of ideas if there was a tool like that available. Like I said, I'm very happy with my decision, so not a concern for me.

I'm the Director of Technology & Operations at a company that does a significant amount of internal development work, with a strong web development team. We develop and support web properties that provide our product to 15,000 users. It is NOT our business, but we do it as part of the company's product strategy. Nor do we do this dev work for other companies or the private sector. I am also NOT a developer.

Just for fun today, I did ask my lead web developer how this could be done. He explained a few options - both difficult and easy. I showed him the Ford website where you can build and price a vehicle as an example. Some of the work sounded like it needed a really sharp graphics resource to accomplish that level of quality (on the Ford site) e.g., using color palette shifting to change paint colors. Most of it was over my head!!

If I could do the work myself, I'd probably volunteer my time to Dawson. Sadly I know just enough to be dangerous...

Thanks for the suggestion's guys. We did mess around with a builder a while ago but with thousands of different configurations it was just too much. I would love a program where you could pick a color from a drop down menu and It would change the color of a certain part. Or pick a different shroud, led ring color. ect.

You guys kind of nailed it, the product really does sell itself but It may be time to hire a web developer for the site, Im just to busy and don't have the knowledge in that area to develop it to its full potential.

If you guys with the knowhow would like to throw some ideas at me please feel free to shoot me a email - [email protected]

My new 2013 Retrofits (taken with my pathetic iPhone camera):

The amber LEDs appear like different colors, and they actually are slightly different - but in person they look exactly the same IMO. My truck's in the shop, so I haven't taken any daytime pics yet.

Thanks Dawson, they look awesome!!
