Is hammering down the pinch seam only to protect your tire at full compression on mid perch? Because if the pinch seam sits behind the liner, and is the problem, then one is going to really F*** up their fender liner on full compression! ????

I've wondered the same thing. Let's call the pinch weld a hard point and the fender liner a soft point. I was under the impression that the interference from a 37" BFG AT is so slight that it would just harmlessly push the liner out of the way on full compression, but could cause damage to the truck, liner, and/or tire if it contacted an unmodified pinch weld or a fender liner with an unmodified pinch weld behind it.

R'tizzle - Are your Methods the true beadlock or standard "street" version?

38" based on the mfr. spec. or actual measurement (mounted, unmounted, on a vehicle, etc.)?

Toyo MT come in 38x13.5 and 38x15.5 for 18" and 20" wheels.

Also, I'm pretty sure there's a few Super Swamper and Mickey Thompson tires that come in 38", but I doubt those are the style tires you're considering.

Great thread and thanks to all that have contributed. I have to say I have always liked BFGs and for the weather and use of my soon to be delivered Raptor, I have looked at tons of tires and keep coming back to wanting to make the BFG AT 37s work. My truck will be a daily driver but I feel the stock tires just seem a bit undersized. I don't like the look of aftermarket fenders as much as stock and all of the other slightly bigger than stock tires, there just seems to be a trade off. Toyo Mts-weight and noise, Hankook MT better on road than most Mts but heavy, Falken concerns about steering wheel wobble etc. It seems to me for living in the Northeast and offloading on trails or the beach that the BFG is probably the best do everything performer. Just wish there was a hair more clearance with the stock set up so that you could just hit the pinch weld without incremental cutting. Guess my decision will come down to Methods with stock tires or 37s and some work unless I am missing something which is entirely possible.

If anyone has other ideas or input, I am all ears.

I went with 18" method with a 315/70/18 toyo mt. It measure close to a 36". I believe it's 35.7" stated which is 1.3" bigger than stock while a little over an inch less than 37" toyos. Not sure exact measurement on BFG 37's. Mid perch. No other mods. No rubbing. Methods are 18" with +18mm offset. Would have stayed 17" but couldn't find a 36" tire in that size wheel. Happy compromise for size/floatation/looks for me.

I agree - I really want to put the 37" BFG AT's on but just don't want to do any mods - I actually like the stock wheels so don't want to change them and I am not great with tools (just ask my thumbs) so am afraid to start pounding on my truck with a hammer. I don't really offroad much if at all, and when I do get off pavement, its more at a crawl than anything else, like down a logging road to get to my hunting spot but there are minivans and cars that drive the same roads if that gives you an idea of the amount of 'offroading' I do...no rocks or anything at speed at all, heck, I even clow down when entering my driveway and going over speedbumps in parking lots. I seriously doubt I ever come close to full compression but I would hate to put them on and then break something. I don't want to modify the suspension doing midperch...if I just did the pinch welds, can I get by without doing the midperch?

Anyone in the Minneapolis area that is a pinch weld pounding pro want to come drink a few beers and help me do some pounding??
