Took the 11 in today for a oil change tire rotation etc. turns out the front driver side strut is gone. Then they come back out and add the valve cover gasket is also gone and oil is covering everything. No low oil light went off so they said it prob happened on the way to the dealership. Its been a rough day. and my 3 year ended at the end of july...

Hi gschrono,

Let's see what I can do to help. Send a PM my way with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership; I'll get to work on some options for you.

Maybe it was misunderstood. The gasket for the valve cover is broken/torn so it is leaking oil. And they told us the drivers side front strut was broken they said they could put it back together and i could use it till the new part came in but I'm leaving it there for now.. I actually was quoted around 6k for the esp by the ford dealership. I'll try to find the paper work the guy filled out and scan it in. It's brunswick ford in Brunswick ME. Recently everyone at that dealership got fired so I would not be surprised if they were ripping people off.

ok, makes more sense. I'd look into other dealers based on their quote for warranty being around double what I was quoted. Plus, their quote for the repair seems ridiculous. I'm thinking the gasket seal would probably be covered on under the powertrain warranty anyway. I could be wrong, but installing a gasket seal is a pretty simple job anyway.

Gasket is a simple 1 hour job and a $30 gasket... spark plug wires and 10 bolts and the valve cover is off. The shock (strut) is also an easy, strait forward fix, find all 4 takeoffs on ebay for $1000 or less.

I'm biting my tongue here but can't take it... don't misunderstand this, but we drive specialty vehicles that require attention, especially if we enjoy them as intended. You should have a basic understanding of your truck and how things work, or at least know what questions to ask when something breaks. The issues you are describing are simple fixes with simple tool box tools. If you've never replaced a valve cover gasket, this is the place to ask how and do it yourself. You will save a ton of money on a simple repair, have the satisfaction of having done it yourself, learn about how your truck works, and see possible other issues before they arise. If you do routine maintenance yourself, you would see oil leaking and could have asked for help here. I am sure there is someone on here who would be glad to help you get your truck all fixed up for beer and conversation. Most of us love turning wrenches on Raptors... our or other peoples. If you were here I'd be glad to have you come over and we could do it together. Paying money like that to a dealership for simple hand tool repairs is a waste.
Sorry if I sound like a ****, that is not my intention...

]No you don't sound like a **** it's true I should pay more attention to my truck. After doing tons of work myself to my focus in high school and to my 08 mustang gt I should know better. I knew those cars inside and out. I feel like i got lazy with the raptor. But anyways I'm working with a person from ford to see what can be done. I also asked if I could have the bad strut/shock back but they said no. I'll keep it updated when i hear anything.

I don't know if the law is different in your state but they are required to give you your old parts in CA. You really need to run from this dealership.

What are the odds of a valve cover gasket going bad on the way to the dealer for a 30k mile check-up? My guess is 1 in 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. This dealership should be investigated for fraud.

That shock /strut belongs to you unless replaced under warrenty where Ford might return it to fox for a core. If your footing the bill for a new one, demand your old one back. And try and be at the dealership right when they take it off so it goes from the truck to your hands with your eyes on it. Then send it to Fox and have them check it out.
Have you looked at it yet, was there oil leakage signs on the shock? If not I would be suspicious.
