Do owners realize a Torsen is not a locker? It's seems like the disappointment is based on this assumption. By the way, even with a Torsen Traction Control comes into play (i.e. uses brakes). To make maters more confusing is that if you put a vehicle that has a Torsen on a jack with the wheels off the ground, a Torsen equipped vehicle will seem to have an open diff. If you spin one of the wheels off the ground, the other will spin in the other direction. Also, a wheel off the ground would get all of the torque (one wheel spin). This would be corrected once the other touched the ground. Traction control would apply a brake caliper in this instance and force the mechanical aspect of the Torsen do "go positive" and drive both wheels.

As far as the R is concerned, not sure if a current Torsen diff is up to the capacity requirement with a +600 LBS torque engine and a 6000 LBS truck (the other side of torque capacity that no one ever considers) is there yet, but I bet it will be available in the future. I would expect there will be. The Torsen was used in the 2013-14 GT500 engine, but the vehicle was, literally, a ton lighter.

Well that royally ****** me off, I had no idea Torsen was removed, and it was handled in **** poor manner. Dealer and everyone said heated steering wheel were the only deletes or changes from a '22.

I am, but I'm guessing there's zero recourse so may as well be pissing in the wind. All I know is I'm done with new Ford's for awhile after finding this out 2 months AFTER purchase on an internet forum instead of through the dealer or FMC's own literature.

You guys should just off load these defective trucks now. I feel bad for you Jen Tres owners, being sold a bill of goods after all that waiting.

I got 500 bucks ready to go for you unhappy owners, a generous offer so you can go get something better or more to your liking. I mean why spend all that money to put in a whole new diff, compromising at least part of your warranty, when you can have 500 bucks and be done with the drama.

Agreed that Ford should have been more transparent. Still

There you go again with logic. You are going to mess up the pity party.

I feel you. I had a Lemon 21 F150 Tremor... calling Ford... dealing with every ave I could got me nowhere. Thankfully this Raptor has been good aside from having the trans replaced last week.

exactly... the press communication during the raptor R launch should have sounded like:
"The raptor R was too powerful for the torsen diff so we were not able to include it, the learnings in the raptor R development program showed us we could maintain similar performance without it. As a result, considering the adverse on-road experience with the torsen, we made the decision to go with a brake lock only system for all raptors 2023 forward."

instead we only got the first half of that leaving 2023 buyers ignorant of the change
I think this guy low key works for Ford.

Ya I'm familiar with those above. That's why I put the opposite tire from the planted front tire in partial contact with the ground, to create the friction needed, in addition to light brake pedal to see if I could get the planted wheel to provide forward momentum. It didn't.

I do find it funny how Ford goes on and on about how great the Torsen makes the Raptor in that article above, then they delete it off all trucks in 2023.
Torsen was removed for 2023, info direct from ford performance
I’m picking mine up on Saturday, and dealer said there was a bulletin regarding the Torsten delete for 2023.
