Iron vs aluminum block is only 80 lbs difference. Both engines have aluminum heads and plastic intakes. 7.3 has way less valvetrain and timing parts, so the heads are probably significantly lighter than a 5.0L.

Hardly "heavy AF".
Pushrod motors are much smaller and lighter. So wasn’t there a 6.8L motor being produced as well?

I'd not heard of one.

Googling yields this from October of last year....
"Based on a quote in the Windsor Star from Canadian auto union Unifor's national president Jerry Dias, 6.8-liter power will be returning to Ford's vehicles, particularly in the 2022 F-150 and Mustang"

Union contracts are typically the only way to know what Ford is going to build before hey formally announce it, so given the source- it sounds like it's gonna happen.

Again, M/T is anti-Ford as well, so if a tire went flat, it's a major durability issue if it's a Ford.
One of my favorite articles from MT was one year they had a long-term Corvette for a year to evaluate. At the end of the year they "mentioned" it was out of service for 3 months while the factory was trying to diagnose an oil usage issue. They wound up putting 1-2 pistons in it and then just suggested do them all! The final review of the Vette was "this car is a game-changer" in the performance world! Sure to bring years and years of Smiles per Mile....blah blah blah. So, it takes a rebuild but it's a "game-changer"---pathetic!

I just want a V8 man. Supercharged, TwinTurbo, Natural Aspirated... whatever. Just give me 2 extra cylinders and a sweet exhaust. I'll be mall crawling and grocery getting. I don't care what anyone says or judges me on how I drive my raptor. I'm just going to enjoy it so much. I just want a good looking truck with a rumble.

Does the Gen 3 have quad exhaust, or is this a concept photo?

Briefly looking up the crate engine weight:

7.3 is 580lbs
gen 1 3.5 ecoboost with turbos but no intercooler weighs 417lbs.

Couldn’t find anything on the H.O.

7.3 appears to be lighter than the 6.2

160 lbs isn’t nothing to sniff at, imagine me sitting on top of your hood while off-roading lol

besides that- adding a supercharger + cooling components is going to add even more weight

on the other hand, it’s def a stout platform if you wanted to mod it, I bet you could bump
It up to 550-600hp w/ just cam/headers & tuning.

its “cheap” too- looked on Ford performance can get one for $8000

gt500 engine is like $22k lol
not sure why we are talking bout it though still b/c they’re def not putting in the Raptor R lol
