Plug-in hybrid is the only thing that will get me to upgrade. I already know I can't afford the V8, so that doesn't even enter into my brain.
No PHEV? Sticking with the Gen 2 and doing some mods.

I kind of agree that EV or plug-in hybrid would make most sense. It seems that it's the sound of V8 that lots of drivers are waiting to have and some who do off-roading might need gas engine (I guess). But to really bust TRX's ass I think EV or powerful plugin hybrid would be really cool. Make it 4.0TT with plug-in hybrid and it can easily push more hp than TRX when needed.

Why plug in? From the videos I've seen about power boost, the battery they are used isn't that big, and somewhat makes plug in unnecessary. As well, the truck can move on charge alone but you aren't getting far from the parking lot without ICE kicking in. Essentially, the boost seems to be more about collecting excess power from the engine, then using that for suppliment power and generator feature, rather than letting it run on electric alone for any period of time.

But anyway, I'd say there is zero chance of a plug in hybrid Raptor since there isn't a plug in F150.

I've had Camaros, Corvettes, Mustangs, a GTO, couple of V8 trucks, and the Gen 1 Raptor. Trading my wife's Eco Mustang in on a Scat Pack in the next week or so. So...I'm all about the V8 life.

But...I want something new. A Raptor that I can get back and forth to work in with 0 gas, but can still ball with the best of them on some trails around here...that's exciting.
If I wanted a V8 Raptor...well...I wouldn't have sold my 2013.

I'm looking at the power plant in the Avaiator. 3.0TT w/ plug-in. Either jack up the boost, or swap in the 3.5L. I just want 20-30 miles all electric range, plus 100-200 hp/tq.

Can you imagine if they had a 600hp 3.5L PLUS 200hp electric? Insanity. That's something I can only dream of.

I hadn't realized the Aviator was a hybrid. I still don't think they would do that for the Raptor since it's significantly different than the F150. Not right now anyway.

Based on the rumors, I really don't think there will be any electric Raptor in the upcoming model year, particularly if there is a V8 options. Let the engineers focus more on the V8 this year. Maybe the v8 is a limited run and you go with the PB in following years?

huh? I'm running 40s on a stock steering rack. After 27K miles, most of which dirt miles, I wore out a steering shaft joint. I'd say the steering system can handle 37s just fine.
Basically what I'm saying is if the gen3 doesn't come stock with 37a I'm not interested, I don't want to do a bunch of mods to run 37s. I want it to clear 37s from Ford and not be an issue.

yeah, running 37s will be more about the fender shape and liner shape, less about the steering components.

It would be slick if Ford took a page out of the FCA playbook ( a la Demon) for the Raptor R and sold the trucks with 35s, but offered 37s in a "crate" for $1. I'd think that it would shield them from the MPG implications.

I would think most of the folks who want to put on 37s would rather pick out their own wheels and tires? Just making it so you can throw them on without rubbing, or any or any other issues, would be a big plus. I believe this is what the new Hummer is doing.

Of course, once you do that, people will start trying to throw 40s on there.

yeah, problem is, real 40s are 4.5" taller than most 37s. ask me how I know. :D
