Nothing gets good mileage if you keep your foot into it.

Exactly. But point is, the higher the horsepower and more the weight, the more that machine is going to drink. Not sure comparing a Raptor to a Mustang is too accurate other than using it as a starting g point to do some calculations.

But don’t buy that truck to keep your foot out of it LOL

While it would be somewhat boring to only see a 3.5 engine. I would have to think Ford has to get it to 500HP at the very least and increase the torque. Still would this make it the best performing F-150? Does a 3.5 base motor mean no PB or might it be? Unless Ford wants to keep pricing down on this model and jack up the V8 version.

I think the Gen 3 needs to be a bit different to sell and make Gen 2 owners buy into the Gen 3. In this day and age you can’t take a break with competition all over you.

Good thing we will know soon.

This is my line of thinking. I don't know that anther 50 HP is going to motivate me to upgrade my Gen 2. Yes, the nicer interior and rear suspension is nice, but I don't think it's worth the 20K or so I'd have to pay to upgrade. Honestly, since my offroad needs are light at best, I think I'd be better off in a lariat or platinum with PB, with money left over for upgrades. Though likely I'll just keep what I have.

It's entirely possible I'm over rating the impact of PB, but to me, it's not even about the HP gain. If the options are 500HP with or without PB, I take with PB.

The other question is, if the Gen 3 doesn't have PB, why not? Either PB isn't as good as I think it is, isn't as reliable I think it would be, or Ford just doesn't think as much of it as I get the impression they do.

Thinking along the same lines and all what you say. But I will stay in my truck for a long while then.

I would think having the generator would be nice in a truck that can take you to out of the way places. Not to mention the power increase. But maybe it’s a weight thing and considering how ruggedly a Raptor can be used, the PB system is better suited for more on road use.

I don’t even think you can get the PB in a Tremor can you? If so this would make it even more attractive.

A v8 is the only reason I would go to a Gen3, tweaked 3.5, 3.5 PB, none of that would make me change, I went 801a, I don't needs air conditioned testicles and corinthian leather. I love my Gen 2.

My dad had a Chrysler Cordoba back in the day with that leather. Think Ricardo Monteblaun did the advertising for it LOL.

Yeah no reason to leave a Gen 2 to get a tweaked 3.5 or further updated tech. At that point tweak what what you have.

LOL its funny how tons of people on this forum over the last couple years have been dogging on the V6 from the Gen 2. "It doesn't sound good, it has too many problems, it isn't reliable, V8 or nothing else" nothing but complaining and complaining. Now Ford is giving the people what they wanted, a supercharged V8 making north of 700hp. Any what do people do in return? Continue to complain! "MPG won't be as good as the V6, its too much power, who needs 700hp, not worth the extra money, its too heavy." My goodness how unhappy with your lives are you people? All you do is complain, Ford gives you what you want and it still isn't good enough. LOL!!!

It's not the same people complaining both sides of the discussion. Even then, it's not people necessarily complaining about what they have, but why they wouldn't spend money on a truck that they don't think meets their needs better than what they currently have.

If you were paying any attention at all, you'd know that it's different people complaining. But then you couldn't complain about people complaining and I couldn't complain about you complaining about them complaining, so there's that. :p

I think you may be right. I have been pushing/hoping for a PB motor more than anybody but the fact is I may have been naive to the fact that the complexity of that system isn’t suited for high speed Baja jumping.

In that case I would rather the predator be the only motor option. I am still against having two engine options. If they do that they really need to separate the truck completely, like Ford did with the GT350 and GT500
