yeah, problem is, real 40s are 4.5" taller than most 37s. ask me how I know. :D

I have no doubt you know. My point was that once you make it 37" capable, then 37" will be come rather common and people will want to push it to 40" to stand out from the crowd (not because they are actually building a more capable offroad rig as you've done).

It's sort of like the drinking age. Is it really because we don't think people under 21 should drink, or because we know that people will start drinking about 3 years before it's legal, and we want them to drink at 18, not 15?

LOL its funny how tons of people on this forum over the last couple years have been dogging on the V6 from the Gen 2. "It doesn't sound good, it has too many problems, it isn't reliable, V8 or nothing else" nothing but complaining and complaining. Now Ford is giving the people what they wanted, a supercharged V8 making north of 700hp. Any what do people do in return? Continue to complain! "MPG won't be as good as the V6, its too much power, who needs 700hp, not worth the extra money, its too heavy." My goodness how unhappy with your lives are you people? All you do is complain, Ford gives you what you want and it still isn't good enough. LOL!!!

From my view it’s because the Gen2 crowd has become pretty insufferable in most the forums and it just turns into the same arguments over and over and instead of talking trucks it turns into a **** contest. So instead of sitting online having a pissing contest with a bunch of strangers on the internet I’m just gonna go buy the truck I want. And that truck will be a V8 or I won’t buy one pretty straight forward. I love Ford for finally coming through if they really do go back to a V8.

After reading the thread I also was laughing at so many suddenly obsessed with MPG and also thought how miserable the place seems. The MPG is not my concern when looking at a raptor.

In short I don’t think it’s really the same ppl complaining on both sides. More Gen1 folks want a V8 option again. Gen2 are scrutinizing the upgrades to see if it’s worth the upgrade which is reasonable and probably not worth the upgrade if you just bought a Gen2 (unless to change engine).

For as hard as it was to get 40s working on a gen2, I'm going to go ahead and just say it...

Just plan on a one-piece front end if you want 40s to fit on a gen3.

people will try. it will be expensive.

I think I'm just gonna stick with my horse, and if I want it to look like a gen3, I'll swap the glass out.

@smurfslayer wasn't commenting on your opinion on MPG, just your assertion that MPG has only recently been a concern among forum users.

Ha, I’m not gonna go on and on about this. The entire thread as a fact is complaining about MPG. Buying a raptor and worrying about MPG is ironic to say the least. But who cares do whatever you want

If Ford really lets you pick between the 2 engines then the complaining doesn’t even make sense. People complaining about the V8 and MPG will get the V6 and ppl complaining about the V6 will get the V8. So everyone should be able to get the truck they desire and be happy. Unless someone wants a Prius well then are they ever really happy?
