Good questions, was thinking they would keep a normal cheap battery for the normal operations and add a deep cell battery of some sort for continuous draining. On a pick up truck maybe put the extra battery under the box and the other components could be tucked in-between the box side panels. If Ford is reading our ideas and uses them, they should cut us a check.

That's pretty much what I was thinking, but not sure if the normal cheap battery is really adding much value at that point.

Had an additional thought. On the Gen2, and I assume Gen1, the uppfitter switches are only functional while the engine is on. If there is a Gen3 hybrid, would it make sense to run those switches off the generator system and allow the switches to power equipment while the engine is off? I can see where that would be a plus in some cases, but if you use the switches for additional driving lights, I'd rather not have to remember to turn them off manually every time. It would be ideal if the toggles had 3 positions, off, run off engine, run off battery. Or perhaps make the switches configurable to how you want them to operate. Or have a two banks of switches for both conditions or something.

The Gen 1 only needs the key on, not the engine running to operate the switches, but I think Ford is only offering AC outlets for the "generator", most aftermarket stuff is DC volts. Not thinking there is a need for switches for both. Thats all we need is the soccer MOM driving around town with her hair dryer bouncing off the pavement behind her Gen 3 raptor.

You could make one of the outfitter switches the master, to enable the others to run when the ignition is off.

I had posted this link earlier about the setup, there is more information out it on the net. Ford is calling it a generator because it is the engine that is producing the power to the inverter, a inverter alone is nothing without a source of power feeding it.

I would rather have a truck idle at a campground other than listen to some of the cheaper 2000 plus watt generators. A Honda 2000 watt produces between 47-53 db and according to Hondas site normal speech is 60 db. I have a Honda 5000 for the house and it is pretty quiet when under load.

Everybody is praying that Ford puts the GT500 engine in the Raptor, except me. I want a high output version of the powerboost Hybrid like 600-750HP With 7.2 Kw generator. That would change camping and outdoor activities drastically.

Id much rather have the generator personally. I’d carry a real compressor in the bed for airing up.
