At least in the US, these government mandates to reach some goal by some date always (often) get pushed back when it turns out that it's not possible. Not sure what the market is up there, but EVs make us such a tiny fraction of sales, don't have the needed infrastructure, and don't meet the needs of so many...I just don't think it's possible.

I rarely see people use bikes for transportation, they are for recreation/exercise. I don't see kids ridding bikes anymore. I will say that golf carts have are becoming rather popular, which makes a lot more sense for many areas since they carry much more and are much more visible to vehicles than an electric bike. Probably cheaper too.
We don't have the infrastructure yet either, but there are more and more ev charging stations going up, we have them at strategic points along the major highways at rest stops, they are at virtually every mall now. A lot of businesses have them for their employees too. It's coming and getting rammed down our throats whether we like it or not, I'm afraid.

Infrastructure is going to be a major problem as is the increased demand for electricity.
So called green energy will never pick up the amount needed.

Infrastructure is not a problem, won't be a problem and is not going to be a problem.

Tesla's big truck production center will be open in Texas soon, and the charging will be there to support them within the state.

I think this thing is exactly like the 2003 GM Inverter/Generator setup. The "generator" is the 3.5L Ecoboost. There's a big battery pack and an inverter that can deliver 7.2KW (or 2.4KW). When battery pack / current draw / fuel available hits certain thresholds engine starts/stops.

i think your dreaming, given that Texas with the current infrastructure hits over 95% on a regular basis. Where is the extra electricity coming from along with the power lines and transformers etc.
The EIA estimates that it will take +5 Trillion dollars and 10 years just to update the normal increase of 3 to 4% in electric consumption per year not including any EV’s.

Ford surely won't put in on until regulations require it or customers start asking for it. And I doubt customers will ask for it, since it could hurt resale value...unless its something they can clear out before sale.

And while it's original purpose may be for worksites, camping and such, you're going to see some people using this in unexpected ways. You're going to see people at a park running bouncy houses off their trucks for little Billy's birthday party.

I'm pretty sure the current Get trucks have an engine run hour meter already under the trip menu. So the the provision is probably already there. Its not like they would need to mount a mechanical Hobbs meter in the dash.

The conversation was about all vehicles going EV in 10 years. One location in Texas supply the power for a fleet of trucks, whether it happens or not, in 18 months, does not really bring you closer to every vehicle produced in the country 10 years from now.

Man I would love to run things off my truck at night quietly!!! Would be a great accessory to charge a battery all day while running trails and use it all night!!!

It would be nice if idling the engine would also efficiently charge the battery as well as provide immediate power. I woud guess an idling engine will mostly like provide alot more power than you need at any one time, so charging the battery efficiently as possible would be nice.

If such a feature were there, then perhaps campers would actually opt for a less noisy exhaust so that the engine could idle periodically through the night to power things and recharge the battery with waking people up.
