2020 Test Drive - help with the ride

Had the pleasure of test driving an almost loaded 2020 Leadfoot last weekend (no tailgate step, no bed liner, no recaro seats). While I loved the performance, the sound, the brakes, the stance, the look, the fun factor ... my wife said she thought it rode really really rough ..to the point that it would be uncomfortable for her on long trips. It was not an issue for me but it did seem more rough than a 2019 I drove last year. I didn't expect it to be smooth with those sweet aggressive tires so it's not an issue for me. I should have checked the tire pressure. Anything else?

thats the main thing. ford over inflates the tires from the factory, sometimes by a lot. put them at 38 and try again. also make sure its in normal drive mode. my father hates rough riding trucks, he has a lariat, and he was surprised how smooth the raptor was.

check/ put the tire pressure that is listed on the truck. also the tailgate step is something that is way more valuable than it sounds. My opinion is do not get a raptor with out one. fyi my pressure is at 32 cold

I agree with others as far as tire pressure. I run my pressure at about 37psi. Mine is an ‘18, so it doesn’t have the live valve shocks, but I’ve owned and driven many other trucks, from Tacomas and Tundras to Chevys to other F150s, 250s, and 350s, and my Raptor is the best riding of all of them hands down. I even have a new Mercedes S560 and for a truck, the Raptor compares well with the Mercedes.

Ditto lower tire pressure to 32-34psi cold and it makes a world of difference. I got a new 2019 a few months ago and bought it before I had really driven it and was disappointed with the ride quality too on the way home. I was like “I thought the Raptor was supposed to ride like a Rolls??”. Anyway, pressure was 45psi or something stupid. Lowered it down and it’s been a smooth riding Caddy ever since.

My Raptor was inflated to 50psi when I got it. After I lowered it the ride became much better.

Cool. Planning to to check with dealer on the psi. . Salesman tried to downplay the tailgate step saying its cumbersome, breaks, get jammed, etc. But I think it would be really nice. And of course I want the spray-in liner

I have my pressure at 34-38 and mine can still be pretty bouncy at times, especially around 40-50 mph.

It is a truck, not a Cadillac. So yeah, there is some truckiness that comes with it and the ride.

But as far as everythig else goes. My family prefers my Raptor on long trips over my wifes 18 Explore-Sport.

The ride is a non issue.

(most) Salesmen are lazy scum and many would tell you their sisters phone number if it meant getting a sale. If you were looking at a truck with a tailgate step, he would be waxing poetic about how awesome and life changing they are (which is correct) :)
