2020 Sync 3 Update

There was a Ford Engineer on another Ford forum answering questions about this update and hack. Essentially, the difference is the APIM firmware. If you don’t update it, Sync 3.4 is software incompatible with the APIM and some of the climate settings might act up. I haven’t had any issue so I’ll just hold out on the firmware update until I need to do it. Firmware updates can be tricky and can brick the system, which means that Ford will probably want you to take it to a dealer for the update. We’ll see where this goes...

Did someone mention a way to reset the the Nav/Radio, I cannot get the system to accept any updates since the last one failed.

I tried the 2 USB route and it worked finally, the $50 Sync USB I bought will be refunded by Ford when I send it back to them.

When I go to ford owner site it shows that the only update available for me is

Software update SYNC3 v3.0 is available!

I'm not seeing the opportunity to go any newer

yeah, so I’ve read. Now I have to go read up on the upgrade to the newer version(s) of 3.4.

Hopefully a Ford / Internet scientist will step in and set me straight ;-)
