2020 Sync 3 Update

I was under the impression all the Gen 2’s have the same Sync system hardware. What was changed and when? Since only 3.3 has been officially released to the F-150 from 2019 and under, I’m betting the dealer or most of them won’t update to 3.4 for you.

Can anyone give us any history from past experience when Ford released the last major Sync update to previous years owners?

the apim tech changed for 2019 (and maybe some very later 2018s but I doubt it)

that is what 3.3 has only been released for 2019. Anything lower than 3.2/3 at this point will never be officially upgraded to 3.4 as the hardware can’t physically support the size

Ok I hear ya. I thought people here with 17 and 18’s were able to hack 3.4 into there trucks. So if 19’s are like 20’s, I wonder when Ford will officially push out 3.4 for us.

People have gotten around the size restriction on older units by reformatting the unit and tricking it into installing 3.4

would i do it? Hell no. Zero chance of being able to revert once you do it and if anything goes wrong..good luck


And I hope the push it out soon. I have been using the night theme as it looks the best, but I like what I have been seeing

I’m tempted to do the hack to 3.4 on my ‘19. Was trying to just wait out an official update.

From the looks and some improved features, I would like to have it. I also read it helped some folks out who cannot install Sync apps and work them over BT from the phone. I have no apps and cannot load any apps to sync either via the cable or BT. I can only use them when running CarPlay itself. So maybe the 3.4 update may correct this.

so go our 19s putting the 3.4 update on is not as big of a deal. You can upload it similar to what people were going with unofficial builds I believe. I was tempted but I am waiting to make sure I can revert back to 3.3 if needed when the official release happens

I keep getting the error:

I think you need to contact Ford to correct them on Daylight Saving(s) Time

Did someone mention a way to reset the the Nav/Radio, I cannot get the system to accept any updates since the last one failed.
