I was talking about a chev 1/2 ton. Now lets get somebody to quote the specs on a 10 speed in a pete with a 3406 so we can really get off base

Maaaybe he was talking to the OP and not you? The title of this thread is

"2020 superduty 10spd - how similar to the raptor 10spd?"

In fact, it looks like it went off topic when you chimed in

Sorry I didn't realize this was a Chev inquiry.

Thought we were talking about Ford 150 to the Super duty.

Carry on.

This was really a pure ford comparison... I really was just asking if anyone drove a Superduty 10spd yet and could compare to the Raptor 10 spd from feel/sound/drivability. I think that it will be great in the superduty because it will hang out right in the diesel power curve. I guess I will go test drive one.

Make sure you drive the Chev also. Wouldn't want to leave it out.

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

Back to the topic at hand though, the new SD 10spd feels really good. The new 6.7 doesn't really feel much more powerful, and the trans was a little "notchy" at first, but after a few miles the shifts really smoothed out and are very linear. Of course this was from a very limited test drive so I have no extended "real life" results. Not really any chance to try and put the different drive modes through any kind of test. As far as the comparison to my Raptor, which is a late MY18, it feels similar in the short time frame I was able to driver the SD. My Raptor transmission has been flawless BTW.

Current SD runs 6R140 transmission 6-speed automatic

2020 runs 10R140 transmission (a heavy duty version of the 10-speed automatic)

F150's (Raptor as well) & Chevy light duty run 10R80 10-speed automatic jointly developed by Ford & GM

The 140 designates trans rating in newton meters - 1400 Nm = 1032 ft.lb

haven't driven a new SD but I would guess trans behaves fairly similar since both built by same company, I'm sure there are differences in the TCM programming for the diesel truck

140 is 1400 lbs foot of torque. 80 is 800 lbs foot of torque. Just wondering if that is what numbers mean. Something like the roadranger numbering
