Someone posted the Fox Live Valve for mountain bikes review yesterday and first thought was WTH, what does it have to do with Raptors??!?! BUT we do get some good info from the article. The system works incredibly well and reacts very quickly. Most importantly a single live valve shock with electronics costs $2k for OEM bike manufacturers and $3k for end users wanting to retrofit. Point being maybe the price increase is justified considering we're getting 4 bigass shocks with electronics in the 2019. I drove a 2018 and it drove nice but I'd imagine Live Valve would make it plush all of the time and stiffen up only when needed. My GT350 has magneride and honestly the car is super plush on the road compared to a GT without magneride but it still has zero lean in the twisties and handles like a muddafukka. A static setup has to walk the line between comfort and performance, Live Valve should give you the best of both worlds.

As I understood from the articles, Live Valve is an on/off system. Nothing in between. Wondering how they tune this for daily driving, looks like the electronics is a very important part of the system.
Magnaride I do not know, but Audi's system I do know and this is more graduate. As is the suspension on my bike (4 year old Multistrada with Skyhook). Had to get used to it, but rides really smooth over bumps, yet firm in corners.

It's not a on/off system. The video says it "Proportionally increases fluid pressure in the valve" and "by continuously varying pressures the system can produce significant damping adjustments to maximize compliance for any terrain"

Are the shocks going to change with the Terrain mode settings? Normal vs sport vs rock vs sand vs Baja?

No info on that but I'd imagine there would be different programs for each. Just like Magneride on the GT350. It's constantly adjusting dampening within each setting but there is a sport and regular mode which probably sets baseline settings to give each mode a different character. My Escalade has magneride also and does the same with touring and sport mode.

From the article:
The heart of the system is a small Latching Solenoid, which requires just a 25 millisecond pulse of electricity to move. It’s then held in the open position with a magnet, and the closed position with a spring. So, there’s no power consumption to hold it in either position. To close it, the system turns on a small electromagnet to cancel the permanent magnet so the spring can push the valve back to the closed position. It’s either open or closed, there are no intermediate (aka “Trail”) positions because those would require constant power to hold it in those positions.

But this is for mtb's. I found another video:

Polaris RZR Turbo Dynamix Suspension In Depth Overview

Here they are explaining a small motor is changing the compression damping from soft to hard and everything in between, depending on the mode selected and driving inputs.

I guess Ford does similar.

Yup I was quoting the Polaris system. I'd imagine the MTB version is limited functionally due to size.

I heard Ford purchased the magnetic ride technology from GM

Probably one of the perks of collaborating with GM on the 10speed auto trans used in the F150, Mustang, Escalade, Z06, ZL1 etc. Odd thing is there were a lot of complaints about clunky shifts in the 2017 Raptor 10spd but I've never experienced that with my Escalade's 10spd trans.
