Wanted to share my Ford Raptor experience...I ordered my Raptor March 2018 with a $3000 deposit @ MSRP knowing it would probably be expected in November. I was first at my dealer here in CT. Order was entered into Ford system when the banks opened in August. Once November rolled around no truck, no build date, no nothing. After annoying my dealer for weeks their only response was that the regional rep said it wouldn't arrive till March?!?!?! Now, I know they bumped my order so they could profit from the markups on the first round of trucks. So they refunded my deposit. I placed an order on November 27 for another truck from a huge dealer in Kentucky. They assured me the truck would take 8-10 weeks to arrive. After 13 weeks of checking the status and contacting Ford performance relentlessly, my truck was assigned a build date and was awaiting shipping with an expected delivery date of 3/03. Bought tickets for 3/08 to fly out and pick up my truck. Of course the truck was delayed again with an expected delivery of 3/16. What a ******* disaster!!! I cancelled my order and found out that unless I had a medical emergency or death in the family my tickets could not be refunded. So i lost $400!! Crazy!! This was the first American car I have ever tried to purchase. I have owned over 40 cars in my lifetime (ex. 911gt3, 911 turbo, macan turbo, nissan gtr, 10 amg's etc etc etc.) I have never experienced anything like this. What a ****** experience!! I tried and realized that I will never even attempt to buy an American car ever again!!! I'm a patriot and really wanted to start supporting cars made in our country but to be honest this experience was the worst ever for me in regards to a car purchase. ****** service, ****** ordering system, ****** assembly planning, ****** everything. So long Ford Raptor forum members...its been real.

Definitely a few leaps of faith in your story. But... the reality now is, you don't have to wait at all. These trucks are readily available on lots and being delivered daily. Just pop on the old internet and find the one you want... go get it.

I really don't know why this thread is still going... why people are still ordering (especially after reading the horror stories within the thread, regarding wait times and delays).

At this point, either go buy one of the lot, or wait a few more months to place an order for a 2020.

- The 1st red flag was allowing a dealership to take your deposit on March 2018. Please note, 2019 order banks did not open until September 2018. Essentially, they took your money without an allocation.
- never buy a ticket to go pick up a vehicle unless the vehicle is actually there

Have to second this opinion. I put a (smaller) deposit of $500 down on a 2019 Raptor order in January of 2018, but got language in writing that stated if I ever chose to go a different direction, my deposit would be applied to another vehicle in full or refunded in full. The deposit was to reserve my place in line, and the 2019 instead of 2018 order was because my lease wasn't up until March of 2019.

As for the buying a plane ticket.... Sorry, but that's your fault. Don't want to be cruel, but Ford very clearly uses the language of "delivery estimate", meaning no guarantee. At the very least, you should have bought some sort of trip insurance. So don't blame Ford because you made a decision that resulted in lost money.

I've lamented on here multiple times about my own poor experience, but I also protected myself from delays. Ordering well before my lease end, not buying parts/accessories until the truck was delivered, getting dealer statements in writing. The latter of which came in useful more than once. Sure, the entire process was annoying and Ford definitely has a LOT of room to improve on the customer experience....

But ultimately, you have to protect yourself, don't expect others to do it for you.

The only reason I gave a deposit was because they agreed @ MSRP which is a huge deal in the Northeast. Most dealers are charging $3000-$10,000 over MSRP. I knew the banks wouldn't open till August/Sept.

I custom ordered a SCAB to my liking. Very rare up here! 99% of trucks on dealer lots are fully loaded SCREWS and MSRP of $75k.

There was NO issue with getting my money refunded. The entire process was just ******. As far as the plane ticket I did buy insurance through Alliance only to find out that it only covered serious illness or death in the family. I wasn't blaming FORD for that. Im blaming FORD for their pathetic ordering and production system. My truck was sitting on the CONVOY truck for a week before "est shipment." only to be pushed back an extra 3 weeks. Thats beyond pathetic. I custom ordered a 911 turbo, a 911 GT3, and a Macan Turbo from Germany and I got my cars quicker than a ****** Ford from Michigan. I actually received my GT3 a month earlier than promised. There is no excuse for a company the size of Ford not to be on point within its own country. Lets get real here! In a way Im thankful for this experience because its probably a sign not to get a truck that would probably have issues and then have to wait months for replacement parts because they couldn't sort it out.

I guess I might as well pile on too..Well my truck was scheduled to be delivered on 3/1 and that didn't happen. It changed to 3/2 and has stayed there but up top it says will be delivered in 5 days. Back to the future I guess!

Talked to the dealer last week and the transport said it was shipping out and should see it in a couple of days. Still nothing yet as of yesterday.

Very annoyed by this process and will be upset if the low APR that the bank gave us a 30 day guarantee on, is not available any longer.

I really am starting to think this BS all falls on the transport companies because when Ford had it things went smoother.

Observation: I traveled on I-80 through the midwest, multiple states, yesterday for 8 hours and saw 50 plus transport trucks and some that were down right nasty. Transport and all vehicles totally covered in white salt brine. I live in the midwest and we wash our cars when they look like that as soon as we can. In this case these new vehicles could be exposed to this for weeks on end as they sit on transport trucks.

I paid invoice and I am in the northeast BUT I do have a great/special relationship with my dealership. Regardless my dealership will order you a scab at MSRP any day you want and do so with no deposit required. And they have two 2019 scabs on their lot now. :)

But let's be real here, your problems are largely isolated to a dealership. Dealership != Ford. Sure, your shipping was delayed and that's annoying. But that's also incredibly common.

You're also making the mistake of comparing a niche luxury car company with one that mass produces fleet vehicles that also happens to make a very small number of "high-end" trucks.

Like I said, I get it.... It's frustrating. I put down my deposit in January of 2018, and ordered my truck in early September and didn't take delivery until late February. 5.5 months is asinine. However, I knew what I was getting into and exercised some patience (with the occasional vent on here, ha). Cancelling your order because of a delay that can be measured in days is a bit of a knee jerk reaction.

Oh, and Porche doesn't make trucks... So while I know you're frustrated (and I can't blame you), I hope you put things in perspective, and dollars to donuts my bet is you have another Raptor order in inside a month.

The 1st dealership yes, but the rest has nothing to do with any dealership. Actually the dealership from Kentucky was awesome to deal with. When Ford performance tells me my truck has been sent to another building for "spray in bedliner" I assume that it would be finished in a few days. 2 weeks for sprayin bedliner?!?!? Better get someone that knows how to plan things a bit better. Then Ford performance says its on the truck "awaiting shipment" 1 week before "est delivery" I assume that it shouldn't really take longer to drive it 600 miles to Kentucky. But to then add 3 weeks while its sitting on a truck awaiting delivery is unacceptable.

You're right, Porsche is in an entirely different league....Think about this. I ordered a 911 GT3 and was told it would take 3 months for delivery. I received it in 2. Can you imagine that they built my custom ordered Porsche in Germany and shipped it across the Atlantic in 2 months?!?!? The fact that Ford build more cars and trucks on a daily basis their production and shipment methods should run a bit smoother.

There is no excuse for any car company in the entire world to take more than 5 months to complete and deliver a car. Its absurd in this day and age. Amazing they stay in business or turn a profit at this rate. Ford has the #1 selling truck in North America. You would think they have this down to a science by now. Pathetic if you ask me and totally lost me as a customer
