I'm interested in knowing if any '18 owners have gotten a recent factory flash that makes the 18 behave as you describe the 19. My very late 18 does exactly what you're describing; good for a timed run, not so good for the street.
I have a late 18 that shifts quite well in sport mode, nothing jumpy or unusual at all. I don't use it often but shifting was only slightly firmer than in normal mode

I never use sport mode on my '17. It's just too aggressive . . . especially with the down shifts. It's fast enough in normal road. I get my speed fix with my 600 hp SL55 AMG

I have an early 18 but it's been reflashed to the latest service cal for engine and trans. No complaints at all in any of the modes, shifts nicely in sport and baja.

My 2018 shifted harshly at first. Remember the transmission “learns “. The more I used sport mode, the smoother the shifting became. I use it when I want to smile.

Same with my Feb 17 build. Had to drive it a decent amount in Sport before it learned, but now it is almost as smooth as normal, but quicker and more firm, so you do notice it more.

Yeah, my sport mode is pretty smooth now unless the truck is cold and I'm half throttling + short shifting in manual mode. Took around 5k miles before it got smooth, but it's very different from where it was when new.

That said, it still holds the gears waaaay long if I get on it in automatic sport mode, and that appears to be one of the behaviors that's changed in the 19s.

My 18 never learned my driving style well enough to be smooth. It was always quite harsh and held gears way too long. I had over 18k mikes on it when I got it flashed so it certainly had the time to learn.

Thanks. I'll check into the TSB and see if I have an older revision. If so, I'll get mine reflashed and report back. It may be a couple months before I get around to it, but sounds like it'll be worth it.

Google TSB 18-2274, applies to build date on or before May 15, 2018. I am still waiting to take mine in.

You know, this topic comes up a lot. It would be great if there were a TSB Sticky thread on this forum. No moderators though. If there is a sticky already, and I missed it, I apologize.
