I love my Raptor or at least I used to. I have had every recall, repair and FSB known to man done on this thing. All I have to show for it is a $72k+ three season shiny truck. I live in upstate NY. It snows and it gets cold. I've never had a problem with my $24k Jeep.

I'm to the point that I would sell it or I'd really like to run it up Ford's ass and force them to buy it back. Has anyone had any success with that approach and where would I start the process?

Have you had the most recent recall performed? There was an additional recall issued after the initial one with a more robust repair procedure. My truck is a ‘19, which has the same parts from the latest recall, and I’ve had no issues with frozen matches.

Yes, last winter. I think the truck has been in no less than six times for the same issue. All recalls and service bulletins have been performed.

After seeing this at least 6000 times in FordPass but never experiencing it, is it that water gets in the door and freezes the mechanism?

I know people who've done it. You have to look up your state's laws to see if you have any lemon laws and if your truck qualifies. Then search for a good lemon law lawyer and talk to them. I know people who've had success with buy backs and others who settled. I've seen plenty of Raptors for sale that are lemon buy backs.

Surely someone can explain it better than I but I will try. As I understand it, there are several contributing factors. Moisture and/or condensation being the key. Moisture/condensation gets inside the door. That moisture gets into the locking mechanism, the actuator and the cable that goes from the handle to the latch. As a result, for me anyway, either the actuator isn't strong enough to move the cable, the locks can only be unlocked with the key (not by remote or touch handle) or if I pull the door handle, the door will open but the frozen cable does not allow the latch to return to it's normal position so the door will not stay closed.

Ford's answer is clean, lubricate, lots of white grease, black silicone and foam tape. Hasn't done shit for me.

Anyone can chime in to clarify.

I have never had this issue (or any other) with my 2018. I live in an area with freezing winters too. So weird the luck of the draw

You are correct. Some have never experienced the problem, some have had it resolved with the recalls and then there's the rest of us. Very frustrating. I wanted this truck for a long time but my frustration has brought me to the point of getting rid of it.
