Could someone please explain the logic behind only wanting to have positive comments about the new truck? What good does that do? First of all, do you think Ford doesn't read these forums? Maybe they'll fix some of the things people don't like before production. They can't do that if they don't know what people are thinking. Second, when people point out the things they don't like, that tells the aftermarket where to make improvements.

Sometimes this forum and the new Raptor are like MSNBC and Obama. I have no use for blind cheerleaders. Or crybabies.

I haven't been visiting here for very long but from what I've been reading it seems like their is resentment toward the gen 2 from gen 1 owners. Maybe they were looking forward to an improved version of what they have. It happens on every forum when a new model comes out to replace the old one. Some embrace it, and others don't like it because it's not their vision realized etc etc. Still is interesting to read it all.

My one critique is that I hope they remove the Platty cladding on the tailgate. The pics of the black one being driven around Detroit doesn't have it. I'll buy it regardless though.

Anymore the current gen1 aftermarket is starting to plateau, ideas for new products are running thin, and there's no real major game changing stuff, just improvements on parts already out. New gen2 will bring fresh ideas that will trickle back down to gen1 and vise versa. LED retrofits anyone? Haha! Gen2 to gen1 3.0 shock swap? I'm excited to keep moving forward. Besides, getting a gen2 will give me an excuse to retire the gen1 from DD duty and cage/link it.

Now everybody stop whining and start ordering gen2s!! Haha

Actually I think this past year has been the Best for Raptor offerings. We are starting to see well designed setups and not just pieced together parts that are claimed to do what they are designed for. We Have the RXT system from ICON which has blow all the other basic rear systems out of the water, and then the options for bolt in bed cage setups now also amazing.

The Dual front setups have also matured where you can now get a bolt in Mid Travel dual setup and also have many well put together long travel front kits that start at bolt in and go to full engine caged offerings.

I am not looking forward to all the "New" raptor owners when the 17 comes out that will try and talk smack about how much better the Gen2 is than the Gen 1. Its not out yet and we already have "future" Raptor owners trying to talk it up.

Don't get me wrong when Production rolls out and I get a good look at it and the options there is a good chance I might pick one up in the second year. I would like a more rounded flare on the fenders than the chevy looking squared flare. Maybe the aftermarket will handle that..

Yea I'm not saying new setups are out of the question, but were coming to that point, where as a whole, we've found what works and what doesn't.

Yes there's been refinements, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking big releases, like say a center mount front suspension kit, or a link kit (while there is some, they arnt mainstream yet). That type of stuff is what I'm talking about. Next level. Bridging that gap from production truck, to cage required pre-runners status.

Yes we can have all of that by bringing it to a custom shop and having them slice and dice (which I have no problem with), I'm talking about kits for the average garage monkey consumer.

I don't think it's so much they're only wanting positive comments as much as as soon as a thread opens about the new 17 raptor, regardless of what it's about its immediately derailed with ugly tailgate, V6, ugly seats. Trucks not even out yet and I think some here are just already tired of hearing the same complaints and not being able to discuss anything else lol. I REALLY want a Scab and was planning on getting a 17 (I'm actually excited about the ecoboost, I had a tuned F150 with the Eco and it ran amazing) but I'm actually looking around and thinking about buying a 1st gen Scab. Nothing to do with engine, seats or the tailgate just the more I look at the new F150's the less I like the front ends. Guess everyone's different lol.

I don't think there's a want for only positive comments, I believe in constructive criticism. I see a lot of "flaws" or things I do not personally like in the gen2 as well, but I also see a lot of good things, and a lot of potential! But there is that repetitive complaining about the same things that does get rather old. Some embrace change, others do not. Different strokes for different folks.

What else would you like to discuss? The Fox 3.0s are universally regarded as a good thing, as are the increased travel, lighter weight, the running boards that appear to be better position to block mud/gravel from hitting the side of the truck, and the driver's side grab handle.

The aluminum body is viewed as an advancement but some people worry about repair costs and long term durability. And people are generally suspicious of a 10 speed transmission hunting gears too much, off road and on.

The V6 is almost overwhelmingly considered a disappointment, regardless of output.

We've discussed all this meaningfully.

Certain people, and in particular certain people who either don't have a Raptor by choice or, more often, can't afford one, have chose to become the unofficial MSNBC style cheerleaders of the Gen 2 truck, which according to Ford won't be out for at least another year and, according to reality and past experience, won't be available at anything approaching sticker price for at least another few months beyond that.

Therein lies the real problem.

Guess you haven't been reading all the comments from the non-Raptor owning PC brigade whose feelings get hurt anytime someone says a bad thing about their dream truck (dream truck being the appropriate description since it doesn't even exist yet, not to mention the fact that by the time it's even readily available, most of these idiots will have already moved on to their next Honda Accord).

I see a lot of "flaws" or things I do not personally like in the gen2 as well, but I also see a lot of good things, and a lot of potential!

As does everyone else, except the aforementioned PC brigade.

Please refer to my earlier post. If Ford doesn't know what people don't like about a truck that doesn't even exist yet, how will it know what to fix?

@Truckzor pretty much sums up how I feel about the '17 (and I suspect most on FRF too)

There are things I like about the '17 Raptor and things I don't. What I know for a fact is that I love my current Raptor and will not get rid of it, period. This Raptor will remain in the family.

I've already stated that in 2018/2019 I will be in the market for a new truck and right now the '18/'19 Raptor would be my first choice. That could change... who knows what will be out in 2 to 3 years.

We are heading out to the LA Auto Show in about an hour. The #1 vehicle for me to see today in the Raptor... I'm looking forward to seeing it in person.

Then I'll drive my real-do-not-wait-until-late-2016 Raptor back home :)

First, this is the 2017 Raptor forum, so its not Gen 2 Owners ragging on Gen 1. Dont like the Gen 2, then go back to your Gen 1 forum.

Second, REPORTS! Lets hear em when you guys get back from the show.
