I'll have to test it out then decide on a location. I use the center console for lots of other things too so it may be a better idea to have it mounted on either side of the center console.

Also have to keep in mind the ipad mount.

Yeah, play with it, figure out what works for you. If you are going to be doing most of the operating of the radio, best to have it close by, so you don't have to stretch out the mic cord too far, and i keep my in my lap for easy access when running. Have you seen the thread on here regarding radio installs and locations?

**Yeah, so there were a lot of "Thats what she said jokes in there...sorry...lol**

Wilson actually started the thread too. If you look at the first reply with the pic, that's how mine is mounted. I hand to put some double sided tape on the inside, between the screws and the inside wall of the console, because it would rattle...i'll take pics of that and post them.

And that thing is plenty loud right there, no issues hearing anything or anyone within range. I'm also the one operating the radio, so that's why i want it close to me.

But I think Gordon and his copilot co-operate the radio, so this is mounted for each person to be able to access it.

Just things to think about for placement...

What do you all think about this type of installation?

F5021 being installed on the center console to the right of my legs.

Antennae being installed on the plastic cowl running along the front windshield. Here, I would have the metal ridge that extends underneath the cowl drilled into for the antennea mount (size specific to the antennea) then have the cowl drilled for the race antennae to extend out of. The cowl is easily replaceable (and I don't want to use the magnetic mount or drill into the roof/bed of the truck)
