Does it only happen when your windshield wipers are on?

GREAT LAKES RAPTOR EXCURSIONS

no, all the time....mostly when turning and over bumps....nothing obnoxious but noticeable....maybe a clearance issue or something not torqued and loosened up....I'd like to get it up on stands myself before going to the dealer, just havent had the time....

Sorry meant to update this thread. I had my lower steering shaft replaced and that resolved the problem. Specifically the lower steering shaft joint was making the noise. Never was given an answer as to what caused it or why it happened or what could have caused it.

After giving Crystal my info the regional manager from ford called me within a couple hours. She is here to help us and has proven that with many and I greatly appreciate the help she provided me.

Hmmm didn't realize that was a wear joint. And there are no grease fittings on it either. How many miles on the truck?

Can we get a part number for that joint? Could be why my rack seems to fail after 200 miles every time it's replaced

^ I hear yeah. The dealer told me yesterday that the steering was loose and said it was probably the tie rods. I told him I just replaced the rod ends and it was probably the rack.

My thoughts exactly. Rack can't be that cheap that you and I go through so many, mine was replaced the week before havoc last year and again the week I got back. My rod ends are brand new. New rack and still clunks. Thinking this joint might be the ticket

Very curious as well. My steering rack is making horrible noises again. Going to try to have it fixed before Arkansas.

Although not a Raptor per say, but my hybrid FX4-Raptor also began to make that noise and solid clunk feeling through the steering wheel when off roading. Also took it to the dealership after reading countless threads on the internet about said problem and all they could reply with was "That's only hear say, people write all kinds of things on the internet".

I've personally experienced this issue when it is extremely hot outside or when working the steering hard while off roading. Many others have narrowed it down to the hydraulics inside the steering rack. Apparently the opening and closing of the valves inside act in a confused manner when overworked/overheated and tighten and loosen the steering causing a clunking noise when actuated. Haven't confirmed this nor do I discredit it, but seeing Ford has no answers nor a solution in place I've come to accept that theory and as annoying or concerning it is I just put the music up louder and put the pedal to the metal. I suggest y'all do the same!

What year is your hybrid? Cause the rest of f-150's without the 6.2 have servo assist racks. Not hydraulic

Our clunk is felt through the wheel. Not heard.
