I took mine into the dealer today to get the recall fix. Took about 30 minutes. Not sure they worked on it the whole time. I did wonder why the mechanic took his soda with him on the test drive. And why it took two guys for the test drive. He also managed to find several mud holes to drive through. That dealership sucks anyway. Only time I have ever been back. I have a 2012 Scab.

You are joking right. I would have lost my shit if that was the case. I had mine in at Ford and then had put 44 miles on it. Needless to say they paid for it

Has anyone with a tune gotten this TSB done? Any word on if it is required or is the tune negating the update?

Just had it done, I didn't drive it much but feels like the same truck so it couldn't have been much for shift points or anything like that.

He told me they reprogram the pcm...so there was no explanation of warranty from Ford. Just the letter.

I had mine in last Thursday (November 26th) to have this recall completed.

The truck came out worse than when it went in.

When I got it back:
1. RPM's are surging - after driving and coming to stop sign etc. or when braking the RPM's bounce around.

2. My fuel gauge is out to lunch - I ran out of gas with 1/4 tank on the fuel gauge and an estimated 120 km to empty.

3. I can smell fuel in the exhaust.

4. Codes P0420 and P0430 for Banks 1 and 2 came up.

I brought it back to the dealer and they are saying my catalytic converters both need to be replaced. I have a Stainless works exhaust and headers too so they just can't replace them. They didn't even know I had an aftermarket exhaust/headers until I told them.

They claim they've never had an issue with reprogramming the PCM so that can't be the problem.

I've never had a problem with my truck until I brought it to my local dealer. Wish I would have stayed away.

This is going to cost a lot of money because they screwed up the programming somehow.

My truck has started to exhibit the same issues that the recall is stating, but the build date is 3/15/12 just 6 days after the date range. Anyone have any experience with the dealership still covering it if its only less than a week from the last date?

Whew! It looks like I missed it by a month. This recall covers F-150s assembled in Dearborn from Feb 11, 1011 through Sep 8, 2012 and at the Kansas City plant from Apr 5, 2011 through June 13, 2012. My truck was assembled at the Dearborn plant in January 2011.

I just saw your link, my certificate says my truck was assembled at the Dearborn Plant on 03/30/2011, this means i am affected, correct? Also what if my truck is tuned?

Just got off the phone with the dealer, my truck is not affected

That's interesting. Your truck was made during the period covered by the recall, but the dealer says your truck is excluded. How did the dealer make that determination, Jim? Did you read the dealer your VIN?
