Biggest news by far is Chevy eliminating their hideous, squared off wheel well/fender openings! Round openings?! Whodathunkit?!

Now the questions are:

1. Will 35's fit? Looks like the openings are too small for 35's which means jacking err lifting the truck sky-high as in the past (NO GOOD)

2. Will GM round out the fender openings on all their trucks and SUVs? If you notice, all of them have the hideous squared openings

Otherwise, it'll be a nice truck discounted heavily making it a good economical truck option.

The real key is when Ford will get their Ranger (and Ranger Raptor) to the market. Ford is losing sales big time to the Colorado/Canyon trucks

This is baseless anxiety taking. The system is far more reliable then you are. I have forgotten my keys in the car. I’ve never had anything “go wrong” with keyless systems, and I’ve owned keyless vehicles far longer than I’ve owned ones with keys.

Anytime something that is a simple mechanical device is converted into something relying on electrical, circuit boards, batteries and a radio, there are simply more components to fail. I am sure in your VAST scientific knowledge, you can provide your stunningly intellectual data to Ford and they can stop adding a mechanical key to the fob and and the "oh shit my battery is dead" starting area inside the Raptor, since it is baseless and all. (BTW, all of your "keyless" vehicles have a key in the fob, I wonder why???)

Additionally, I am welcome to my opinion (it is what makes the Internet work), I think keyless start fobs are stupid, have ALWAYS thought they were stupid, and I now have 3 vehicles with them and hate all of them except the Raptor, because I don't need to carry the stupid thing. I prefer a key and no matter how much you attack me and my position, I will keep my opinion.

Ya, do you ever notice all of the commercials for Chevy/GM trucks "$10,000 under MSRP", etc. Stinking Ford Dealers are trying to get $5k-$15k over MSRP for Raptors. That is because Raptors don't suck.

I am sure we will see a Ranger Raptor soon, and it would not hurt Chevy to completely eliminate the stupid square wheel wells, they do look terrible.

You’re free to have your opinion. Doesn’t the fact that it also have a key make it that much more reliable? Lol. With keyless you have virtually no chance I’d lockimg your keys (along with phone and potentially wallet) in your car and as you so astutely pointed out, still have a key. I think you just helped prove it’s baseless anxiety talking. No need for vast scientific knowledge, just basic common sense.

After I pointed out all of the mitigating controls the key fobs must have in them to protect against the eventual failure of the device, now you are saying that is your point? Okay dude, whatever. Common sense does not exist, since most don't have common sense. Empirical data or design drives intelligent discussion of efficacy of "enhanced" products.

Since a keyless system, by your own admission also has a "backup" key, it absolutely makes it more reliable. You get both features of not working about locking belongings in the car, something you absolutely cannot enjoy with a standard key, and you get the highly unlikely event something goes wrong, you have the key. There is zero reason to not have it or to prefer the key, unless of course, you're just being stubborn and sticking to your misguided opinion. Which is fine too, but there's a reason car manufacturers are or have moved to this route, and it isn't because its a less reliable one.

Am I the only one that likes the square wheel wells? Not on our trucks, surely, but always have appreciated it on GM vehicles.

I hate to agree with those that say GM just copies Ford a few years later, but the little 'lip' underneath the lights is very reminiscent of our trucks, 5 years later

I have never thought twice about the shape of wheel well openings. Some people are definitely bothered by them. Fascination with wheel wells on GM trucks always seemed weird to me. Just my two cents.

Overall, I am very pleased to see Chevrolet produce a full size truck that is off-road capable. They had abandoned this market segment for many years. While this truck clearly does not compete with the Raptor in terms of off road equipment, more competition in the off-road segment creates competition which leads to better products.

While this truck clearly does not compete with the Raptor in terms of off road equipment, more competition in the off-road segment creates competition which leads to better products.

Good point, that can only drive Ford to be better as well.
