Sport mode is designed to hold gears longer and shift "sportier" so it will feel a bit more harsh. People complaining about harsh shifting in sport mode, heres any idea, use normal mode.

I have no complaints about the 10 speed, I'm happy with it. I like it more then the older 6 speed.

I actually think the sport mode gear holding is a feature, not a bug. Many don’t like it and complain about the gear holding,

Sigh...you are correct....as discussed many many time around here. the last thing you want any car to do is change gears when you are mid corner. The Raptor does SPORT MODE 100% correct.

The problem is peoples expectations are for a street mode that does not exist. They want sport mode pedal response with normal mode shifting.

I agree. My complaint is that when it shifts, it is jarring. As in throws your head forward. I’ve even had the tires bark a few times. I’ve taken it to the dealer and had them flash the TCM hoping that would help, but still just as harsh.

I reset the adaptive learning on the Trans through forescan, about 200 miles into the reset what a difference, shifts super smooth. I had the problem of the truck lurching when putting it into reverse or drive...reset solved that too. On the reg f150 forum they mention the adaptive tables need reset every 10k or so...I think that’s stupid but makes sense I only have 11k on my raptor

pulling the negative battery cable for 60 seconds resets all the adaptive learning stuff. It is not too invasive.

maybe the clock and radio presets. but everything else will hold.

I love that it hold gears longer. I love that it down shifts when slowing down. There is a difference between a "sporty" shift and a shift that feels like it is being performed by a 16 year old kid that is driving standard transmission for the first time.

As far the slip it’s quite the opposite. Feels like zero slip and isn’t so anxious to get into the next gear. Nice firm but not harsh shifts. Either way I think they’re both behind the 8 speed ZF. That would have been an awesome option for raptor.

I have both a 2018 and brand new expedition. Exp is much smoother.

The 10 speed in these trucks should shift just like every automatic aside from the additional gears. There are no fundamental design differences that would cause it to shift poorly, unlike the ZF 9 Speed (Jeep Cherokee/Honda products) which uses a dog clutch design. Any shifting concerns typically lie within the software installed.

Ford released the following TSBs for 2017 and 2018 F-150/Raptor 10 speed. If your truck falls within the build date range, take it in to have the software updated.

Issue: Some 2017 F-150/Raptor vehicles equipped with a 10R80 automatic transmission built on or before 1-Aug-2017 may exhibit harsh or delayed shifts and/or an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0711 stored in the transmission control module (TCM).

Action: Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or Ford J2534 Diagnostic Software (FJDS) release 108.04 or higher. Make sure you are connected to the internet when entering module programming to obtain the latest updates. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraftservice.com.



Warranty Status: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage And Emissions Warranty Coverage Warranty/ESP coverage limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
