Unfortunately, I can't find the 2nd set of SVC adjusters & coil spring seat. I'll work around that issue for now but if they don't appear, they are no longer available from SVC.
I had deaver SUA springs on an '01 Tacoma, along with 8" Total Chaos shackles, 3 tube King bypasses & King bumpstops. It was strapped at only 15" of travel, rode like an absolute cush monster, and never had an issue with axle wrap. But, it required a replacement axle to deal with axle plunge...
This is a great explanation of the difference the LV system works in actual RACE applications. It frees the driver to concentrate on spectators being too close and trying to see through the dust, rather than picking a line to avoid big holes. It also acts like a swaybar in the turns and settles...
Check out a Fox Live Valve-equipped Trophy Truck at full kill:
It's also AWD, with 1100hp & 40's, but at this speed; human reaction times just
aren't fast enough and the Live Valve system (or similar electronic devices) are the future.
"Labels look different, OEM has grey printing on black and contains a paint mark, eBay is brighter. Info is the same and they both are marked FoMoCo. (OEM on left, eBay on right). Also while on this view, the connection for the lower plug wire only has one detent 'click' when you press the wire...
This is where they sit on the shock body. Compare it to this random Gen 2 shock photos. When you add the height of both the collar & the spring perch, its pretty close.
The trans cooler line is (kinda) in the way, and you need to be "creative" to reach the 2 long bolts that hold it on. I think that the 3.5 TT ecoboost version has more stuff in the way than the NA 6.2 motor.
BTW, I still have a scar on my forehead where a wrench slipped out of my hand and...
What's the distance from the coil adjuster down to the coil spring carrier on your Gen 2? I'm installing these on my Gen 1 and I want to find out what works on the lighter Gen 2 front end.
You can swap out a starter in 20min.
They are inexpensive and available.
While it's out you can inspect the starter cables, at least a part of the flywheel, and also confirm that the starter wasn't lose or damaged.
If the sound returns then you know it wasn't the starter and you can keep...
USED GEN 1 prices are in the mid $20K range right now, and typically those ads indicate it's been months since they were first listed. I've got a half dozen current ads I could post that are in my state.
NEW GEN 3 prices are 3-4X as much. Buying a new one and then handing over thousands of...
This phenomenon is known as Raptor repair scope creep. It ends when the owner either replaces everything, runs out of money, or runs out of time & patience.
Fully compressed & not binding anywhere. Don't need to measure it to know the stock tire/wheel would contact the fender & liner big time.
it's never easy, or cheap, is it?
So, it's all together, (enough to measure travel), with the coil spring, dust shield & bumpstop removed, but the rubber spring insulator fell off so I ignored it. I measured roughly 21.5" from the floor at full droop, and 34" stuffed to where the shock body was almost against the top hat. So not...
