just did the plugs in my 18 SCrew
1)new plugs came gapped at .028
2)its an easy DIY job - engine cover comes off with 2 10mm bolts, 8mm bolt for each coil pack, and spark plug socket with short and medium extension to remove the plugs. Much easier access than an LS motor
3)old plugs at 1600...
Good to know. I just re-torqued all of mine and tightened the sway to the middle hole. Middle gives quicker turn-in without oversteer and body doesn't lean at all through sharp turns. Highly recommend!
No its not lag, its more of a shudder or sensation of wheel hop. I doubt its wheel hop though because its not WOT acceleration. After reading the 542 thread it seems that its not uncommon amongst owners and folks are seeing 0.4 or so seconds drop off their 0-60 times with just the plugs. That's...
I notice hesitation on acceleration too even on 9 octane. I was assuming it was traction control kicking in but now I'm thinking its knock. Going to change to the Motorcraft 542 plugs. From what I read here they seem to fix the issue like the Denso plugs did for tuned 997tt's
Addendum - now after a weekend of usage, I have decided to not upgrade the sub in any way bc the increase in output and clarity is enough for me after this mod.
I have not heard any noise and have taken 45 mph ramps at 70-80 mph with confidence. One thing to look for is the guide wire used to fish the backing plates into place have to be trimmed after install - its possible that is resonating or rubbing against the frame
I drive 90+% urban and highway and don't anticipate taking my 18 SCrew to Moab or any super technical rock crawling. Noticed that the Raptor had quite a bit more body lean than my '14 Z60 Sierra with 20" wheels. I read some favorable comments about the Hellwig rear sway and decided to try it...
No I don't have any other exhaust mods.
After driving a couple hundred miles the packing (I guess Flowmasters must have some packing) in the muffler has packed down bc it is getting louder. Tone seems too high in pitch or could be just the engine sounds pumped into the stereo.
I might...
1) this just massages the MAP signals to trick the computer into increasing boost?
2) what does this cost?
3) this can be easily disconnected and the service dept can't detect any evidence of flashing b/c no flashing occurs ever correct?
I just did this mod with blsck sound dynamat. I would agree there is a significant increase in bass output and clarity. Sub comes out with 3 13mm nuts. Well worth the time
I just had the Flowmaster FX muffler installed on my 18 SCREW. As Toadster said the passenger side exhaust outlet from the resonator has to be flared to slip fit the inlet of the Flowmaster. I have a lift and have done installs myself but I am glad I paid $100 for this job to be done.
It took...
In forced induction motors, running a plug one or two steps colder than stock reduces pinging/detonation, especially if the motor is tuned or squeezed.
Nice writeup! I just installed the same RC Fog kit on my Leadfoot as well. Very please and will be adding the 30" RC behind the grill kit when its back in stock.
My gratuitous garage pic:
Just installed the Rough Country Triple 2" cube kit in my 18 SCREW. Kit is only $299 which is quite the bargain compared to the $1000 kits I've seen from other vendors. The brackets and cubes appeared to be of good quality and relatively easy to fit and adjust.
I installed each pair to a...
I got the extended warranty on mine, extends the total coverage to 5/100 from the factory 3/36. About $1500. I was told its pro-rated so if I sell the truck prior I should get money back
