New Raptor need fuel help

Owner's manuals are useless. They should just stop putting them in cars and tell people to refer to their website for an online version, or refer to a forum of their choice.

Are you sure it's not the turbo lag you're feeling?
New spark plugs will be useless if it is!

No its not lag, its more of a shudder or sensation of wheel hop. I doubt its wheel hop though because its not WOT acceleration. After reading the 542 thread it seems that its not uncommon amongst owners and folks are seeing 0.4 or so seconds drop off their 0-60 times with just the plugs. That's a major measurable benefit for such a simple change

Runs fine on 87. Just like the manual says it will.
Over 15,000 miles. No issues.

My first fuel stop since getting the truck two weeks ago.........$99.93.
Might switch to 87.

I ran 87 for 2 k miles and 93 for 2k miles

Both were 90/10 highway/city

Tires were 40 psi for the 93 and then lowered to 37 psi for the 87 octaine.

Fuel milage was the same. Not going to pay for 93 unless I am pulling a load.

I run the middle grade around here (89-91) in TN mostly, but every third tank or so I run (93). It’s hard to say whether it runs better with the 93 since my foot gets a little heavier after those fill ups. I took my truck out west a couple months ago and was shocked at what they call premium octane.

I’m not interested in the super plugs, since I would imagine the fine Engineers at Ford have dialed in the proper heat range for the Raptor plugs for a stock engine. That thread kind of reminds me of the many weep hole posts in the past.

I read either here or the manual, that engine will run 87, but suggested you doing so in the winter and use higher octane in the summer. I run 93 and yes, don't empty the tank and it will hurt less.
