So I picked up my new Raptor last week and love the truck. As I'm checking the truck out when I get it home I notice something odd with the tailgate. It has a very distinct sound of something rolling up and down as the gate opens and closes. Sounded like a marble, a very consistent sound. I started with removing the access panel but it was lower in the gate which is separated by a bulkhead. So I looked thru the little hole in the mounting bracket and see something yellow. I immediately knew what it was, chapstick. Burts Bees to be more exact. Now I have a problem, it won't fit thru the hole. So I was able to pull the step assembly out of the gate and with some finesse coax it out. Some poor dude at the factory has dry lips now. http://www.fordraptorforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=100275&stc=1&d=1528847984

You'd spend a half day or more of your time driving to and from the dealership and then letting a bunch of brain dead hammer mechanics mess with your truck?

That's certainly one way of doing it.

I'd just fish it out myself and go on with my life.

if they can't handle the easy stuff what are you gonna do if your truck actually needs repair?

I have a very similar sounding noise coming from behind the steering column, right above where your shins would be. Each time I make a turn, something rolls to the side, when I turn the opposite direction it turns and hits the other side. It's faint and I can only hear it if my windows are rolled up and radio is off. Luckily I rarely drive that way so it's not annoying enough for me to make a special trip to the dealer for it, but I'll certainly bring it up when I take it in for something else.
