Have you driven a mid travel truck, though? Stock gen 3s can’t keep up. Jeremiah from EXO has one, runs it hard, but is miles away from mid travel gen 1 or gen 2s.
I don’t care about resale value, just want to make sure the 4bar rear is a noticeable performance increase.
Can anyone that’s driven an svc 4 link truck give a review? I’d like to get some input and hopefully do a ride along before committing on upgrading from their rear bypass kit. Gotta make sure the juice is worth the extra $50k squeeze
The lead time on shocks is so long that I recommend you go straight to mid travel up front. You won’t see a big improvement with the 3.0 fronts except for reduced shock fade compared to stock. The front won’t keep up with the bypasses on the rear.
If anyone is undecided on going mid travel with svc and in SoCal hit me up. You can come check out my truck. I’m pretty sure I pushed Matt over the edge!
Btw I’m not affiliated with svc in any way but do want more built trucks around me to go on runs with.
I bought mine from Illinois and had it shipped to CA. I took it to one of those private registration brokers and they took care of everything except the smog check. I had to drive it next door for that. There was no weighing required and I never stepped foot at the dmv. I think the broker...
Stock suspension with wide fenders is the stupidest fad. “Hey you no longer fit in regular parking spots and got absolutely no benefit for it!” Couple that with wheel spacers and you actually made it weaker! Poser nonsense.
I chose white to hide the pinstripes. It certainly wasn’t my first choice, and would have gone ruby red otherwise. The darker colors do look terrible all striped up.
I’ll probably wrap it once it gets too embarrassing to line up at the pick up line at my daughter’s school. I already get funny...
It overstiffened the front end. The damping on the stock shocks was no match for that much spring. It lost the floaty feeling and completely sucked off-road. I didn’t bother resetting the live valves, that may have helped a bit.
My $0.02. Your use case might be different.
I’m also in SoCal and have the xl80s on the a pillars. I agree that they look real dumb and whistle on the freeway. Only reason I got them was to be visible from head-on in the dust. The low mounted lights completely disappear in the dust in Barstow...
I installed eibachs temporarily while svc waited on king shock delivery to go mid travel. The eibachs completely ruined the front suspension setup. I wouldn’t do those again. Was so happy to ditch those for the coilovers.
I got yellow lenses for the a pillar xl80s. I’d probably do clear next...
How hard can you run without destroying the tent or tent mounts? I’ve been considering getting a rooftop tent for mellow outings but all my buddies have had issues with holes getting ovalized and things just not holding up. I might be resigned to regular tents, but it seems like you’ve put tons...
Has anyone done a clean installation and have pictures to share?
I’m trying to find a way to get 12v from passenger kick panel and coax antenna cable from third brake light into center console. I’ve already routed the wires through the door sill to under passenger seat, but haven’t found a...
Check out my thread comparing stock vs eibachs vs plus deavers and bumps vs fox race vs svc mid travel. Might save you from an upgrade you don’t end up enjoying.

I ran eibachs in front, and deaver +3s and king air bump stops in the rear for a few months. The combination of eibachs and live valves sucked, but I did not get it recalibrated. I’m not sure how much that would have helped.
I bought the truck knowing I was going mid-travel. Got it all...
Yes. That’s for the front and back with labor. You’ll need a bypass rack, deavers and bump stops on the back. I got trac bars but those are optional.
Don’t know where you’re getting your math from. It would
I have the svc kit. In fact, went out to Johnson Valley with them yesterday for shock tuning. I can’t recommend them enough. They’ve built dozens of trucks and know what they’re doing. Customer service is fantastic. I know I sound like a shill here, but have zero incentive. I researched and was...
If you’re not looking to go wild, I would just upgrade the lacking rear: deavers and bump stops. You could splurge on trac bars too. I honestly don’t see the value in the fox race kit. It’s a ton of money to just avoid shock fade and similar performance as oem. Sure, upgraded ucas look cool...
The rears are 18”, 3.5 kings. I just looked at how they’re mounted and you’re right, it’s possible the 17” is conservative. One of these days I’ll either cycle and measure it, or mock up the kinematics in cad.
SVC advertises 16” front and 17” back. I haven’t measured it myself, but makes sense. It’s a 8” coil over/bypass in front about halfway on the lca, and 18” shock in the back.
That’s compared to (I think) 13” and 13.9” oem. It’s night and day difference.
I do know it’s a pain in the ass to...
