Wait...so they can steal my tailgate? Why didn't I see this thread before?:/

I need a hose clamp to secure it but I'm curious why the alarm wouldn't go off if they start jimmying with the truck body/tailgate?

Buy the masterlock, the tailgate isn't wired to the alarm system.

This is why I joined this Forum, get tips and tricks like this. Simple, cheap preventative action that could save everyone what sounds like $5000. Would have never really thought about this since I haven't owned a vehicle with a camera in it before......great links and recommendations on parts. Will have one in hand when I pick up my truck.

I have a terrain color raptor so I should be good.. Unless they respray it. If mine goes missing, I'll be looking for one of you lol.

Also, mine came with a locking tailgate- isn't that standard?

Yes it locks with your key. However 99% of people don't. The tailgate lock goes around the cup that keeps the tailgate on the post.

Open your tailgate about 50% and pull up/towards you. You'll be able to see the cutout on the passenger side. Driver side goes all the way around.
