That's genius thinking right there. It looks just like my console right now. Maybe they stole the idea from you.

Hey Wiz, any tips on removing the bed? Other than the 6 bolts and filler plig, any other obstacles to look out for.

I almost forgot...
Make sure you pull the vent hose off for the rear end and there is only one wire connector you need to undo... It's on the left in this picture. Not the big one hanging down thats for the trailer lights. If you leave your bumper on you don't have to deal with that one. It's the littler one hanging above it....

Thanks wiz. How heavy is the bed anyway? Im thinking of getting a friend to help me pull it off or rigging up a pulley. Did you use a hoist?

I had 4 buddy's over and it was easy......You could do it with 2 if your in the mood..lol...If you do go with just 2 drop the rear bumper so you don't scratch the rear quarters..

on the back right is that where your antenna go's in and did you make it or is it factory?
That is a hole I made for passing wires threw from the cab to the back of the truck...Just make sure you use a grommet on it to prevent chafing..

Trolling this thread for the heat extractor vent opening. :-D

Lets take a minute and move into a few things that are going on now with the truck..
As some of you my or may not know I put a hand brake in my truck.
The system was tied into the factory back brake lines.
Unfortunately this didn't work. Because of the lack in heavy bias in the preportioning valve there was to much influence on the front calipers.
The work around would have taken away from Fords active handling system. This is something I did not want to do..Remember the goal in this truck is to always add (improve) to what Ford did and never remove..
So the solution was to build an independent braking system..
Enter the new (still in testing) G&P rear brake bracket..

This bracket will allow me to hang a second caliper on the rear end and plume it with it's own hydraulic system.
The only modifications to the truck as far as Ford parts go is the trimming of the splash plate..

Everything else is based around factory Ford parts.. The second calipers are Ford along with all the retention hardware.

I just have to finish up the pluming and then start evaluation testing..
Thats when the ABS work around will start.

As a side note to the hand brake install.
I had to remove the axle shafts to get the brackets off and during my normal inspection process I found this..
524579_10201378694213260_162307804_n.jpg

Yep.. That is a twisted axle shaft folks..The other side was also tweaked but here is the thing.. They were both twisted in the same direction.. So this tells me that it happened when I didn't lift while on the gas hard in the air...Opps...Remember folks when you go air born you have to get off the gas pedal so you don't shock load the drive train when you land..This is the result. (or worse) if you don't.. It happens though some times it's just not avoidable. So what do we do to fix it.???
Go with the new up dated Ford 35 spline axle shafts and spider gear set.
These axles started showing up in our trucks in mid 2012...
This an image of my old shaft inside of the new side gear...MUCH bigger...

Side by side.

Hopefully any short comings in my driving will not show it's ugly head again.. :)
As always make sure you use proper tools when reassembling.

It's also not a bad idea to check your backlash if you run your truck hard..
