HAhahaaaa.
After giving up on a SILVER Raptor, got tired of the spousal abuse, I decided to do the MUD FLAPS like BIRDMAN did in his thread from last year.
I read up on what he did and was buying a pistol at Cabelas and stumbled across the mud flaps he used. #7's. I am sure I paid more than I should have since it was Cabelas but I was there. $34 a set X 2.
I read this thread again, http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f11/new-mud-flaps-highly-recommended-899/#post12027, and then went out for the install. I pre drilled the holes in the mud flaps where I wanted them. I then used my 1/4 drive air ratchet to just drive the screws home into the plastic flair. One screw at the lower edge needed drilling since it was into metal. I screwed it in then backed it out and I brushed some clear paint in that hole and on the screw before driving it home again. Not alot of salt down here. Not worried about the corrosin factor much.
I did apply some 3M tape on the flair where the edge of the flap rolled around onto the flair. I am going to add some fender washers later today to help staedy the flap when its mudded up to help keep it from loosening up or flexing to much.
I think it looks o.k. I am ready for the LOOKS LIKE A RANGER comments! AHhahaaaa. I am tired of trying to keep this black bitch clean! To make matters worse, while at the car wash yesterday while drying off the truck, the sun was shinning from the west and all I can see is Beige Primer all along the lower 10 inches of my doors showing under the black paint. GAWD DAMNIT! Amyone know a ford rep in DFW that would like an ear full about just how sorry the paint job is on my truck? Wonder if I can get ford to paint it silver for me? HAhahaaaaaaaaaa.
Here are a few pics.
