Here is a bizarre ghost story (or some kinda freaky story):
I had SDHQ install the kit at TRR 2013. They only installed the kit on the front of each LCA, not the rear (so one box only). When I returned from TRR, my alignment was out of whack (I have no idea how that happened, LOL). I have a lifetime alignment with Firestone, so I took it there for my third alignment in two months. They called me into the garage to look at my Raptor on the alignment lift. They pointed out that the rear kit was needed for the LCA and wondered why there was only one kit installed.
It just happened that I had a box in my truck that I bought from Amazon. I didn't have it at TRR, so SDHQ just sold me a kit when they did the install. The Firestone tech took the new kit and held it up to the rear of the LCA. He showed me there was no way this could be mounted - it appeared the rear kit had to be different than the front. The rear bolt on the LCA was bolt head out, not the nut (like the front mount). It was obvious that the kit would not go on. So he gave me back the second cam kit.
After reading this article, I started wondering what the heck was going on! How could others say that the kit was the same for the front and back?? I knew they could NOT be the same - one had to be different because of the bolt installation.
So, I just grabbed my flashlight and checked out my LCAs. Lo and behold, there are cam kits on all four adjustment points. The bolts in the rear LCA are now the correct orientation. My truck has been in the shop since that day at Firestone when they showed me the issue. The mechanic there installed my RPG UCAs and Tie Rods. I wonder if he realized the problem and corrected it??
Is it possible that the LCA bolts could have been installed backwards?? The Ford service center did a lot with my front 4WD, IWEs, Transfer Case, etc. Maybe they could have removed the LCAs and then installed the bolts incorrectly??
Very mysterious!
