Personally I would push for a new engine. Only because if the bolt has been in there rolling around since new it could be generating fine metal filing in the oil and over time wearing on the bearings throughout the engine as in cam bearing and main bearings. Not to mention if one of the main caps is missing a bolt. Did some one, or as is common these days a robotic machine install the bolts and miss one.

What a strange set of events that led to the discovery of this bolt. Now you need to CYA so get Crystal involved and push for a new truck and get everything in writing before any work is done. I would not want to be in your shoes right now.

Man, I'm sick to my stomach.

This truck was a purchase I've wanted for so long. Everything was perfect. Not a hint of trouble, I smiled every time I drove it.

Man it feels like a bad dream.....

Crystal, any thoughts or suggestions? What would corrporate say?

****** deal man, but the fat lady ain't singing yet. Still plenty of opportunity for things to work out, and I'd take it as a sign that you happened upon it at all that things will do just that. Fingers crossed for you.

My question is what if they pull it all apart and can't find the empty bolt hole from the bottom side( if there is one) . It still leaves all kinds of questions. Where does it stop without a motor swap? The more I think about it the more convoluted it gets.

Fight for a new engine, does not matter where that bolt came from it is in a location it should have never been.
