In researching Pelican coolers, I came across a question asked by a customer >> "i can get a yeti for same price whats different in them (pelican) i like yetis". This was the the response by someone who works at Pelican:

Here are just a few-

1. Lifetime Warranty (Yeti® - 5 Year)
2. Made in USA (Yeti® - Philippines)
3. 2.25" - 2.75" Uniform Insulation (2"+ Non-Uniform)
4. Solid 3" Secure Locking Latches (Yeti® - Rubber Latches)
5. Stainless Steel Reinforced Hasps (Yeti® - Not Reinforced)
6. Stainless Steel Hardware (Yeti® - Aluminum)

--
Pelican 35Q - Holds 40.70 US Liquid Quarts
Yeti® Tundra 35 - Holds 28.8 US Liquid Quarts

Pelican 45Q - Holds 49.50 US Liquid Quarts
Yeti® Tundra 45 - Holds 37.6 US Liquid Quarts

Pelican 65Q - Holds 72.75 US Liquid Quarts
Yeti® Tundra 65 - Holds 57.2 US Liquid Quarts

One more important omission, yeti is dry ice suitable while the pelican is not.

I saw them both side by side in sheeles today I think I'd get the pelican. but both of them coast to much so I'll just stick with my extreme for now.

I have the roadie. I don't like the rubber straps that lock down the lid. Also the price difference between the roadie and the pelican 45 is $15. I will be picking up the pelican 45 soon. Yeti is super expensive when compared to Pelican, and pelican is not cheap.

Also I emailed pelican and they told me their coolers are dry-ice compatible.

See stuff like that makes me question everything they claim. Many Pelican models are made in the Philippines, and many Yetis are made in the US. That answer you quote is disingenuous.

Also I don't get how they figure this size differences. If you compare advertised interior dimensions you get
3579.57 cubic inches for the Pelican and
3510.72 cubic inches for the Yeti. That's a difference of a quarter gallon, not the 4ish gallons they say.

If that's how they advertise, I would be leery to trust what they told you about dry ice, especially since I can't find anything in their sales stuff saying dry ice is good to go.

PS: anyone heard of Yeti denying a warranty claim, ever?
