I'm guessing it's part of the Canooter valve dampner.
I'll check my Chiltons Raptor guide here for ya to make sure.

That's actually a vibration dampener. Mine was loose on my Scab when I bought it and I had to take it in to get it fixed. They had to pull off the bed to get to the bolt that's on the top side of it.

It should flop and move around a little bit if it's on there correctly, but mounted between rubber bushings so you don't hear it.

I'm guessing it's part of the Canooter valve dampner.

Don't see what there is to be sure about when I've already said what it is and that mine was replaced. But go be sure.

My next post will be titled" OMG!!

Doesn't look like it would do much. Any body ever run with it off? Let the sarcastic comments begin! Some poor ride comfort engineer at ford based his whole career on this thing!

Old thread revival time.
The harmonic weight balancer doohickey is loose on my 2010 w 40k miles. It flops around and clunks. Its not my spare tire, I took it it and it still clunks.
I'm out of warranty and don't want to pay for one. What's it do anyhow?
I'm guessing it smooths out bed hop on freeway chop, but the weight of a full size spare should do that nicely.
Has anybody removed theirs?
What tools, and can it be done with the bed in place?
